A slap in the face of public taste

Dostoevsky F.M.
Dostoevsky F.M.

Phraseologism: A slap in the face of public taste.

Meaning: About something that causes general indignation, insulting (teasing) established aesthetic tastes and habits (jokingly ironic).

Origin: The name of the manifesto of Russian futurists (December, 1912), written by the poets David Davidovich Burliuk (1882-1967), Alexei Eliseevich Kruchenykh (1886-1968), Vladimir Vladimirovich Mayakovsky (1893-1930) and Velemir Vladimirovich Khlebnikov (1885-1922), as well as Almanac (1912), to which he served as a preface. Full name of the manifesto: A slap in the face of public taste. In defense of free art. The authors of the manifesto wrote: “To those who read our New First Unexpected. Only we are the face of our time. The horn of time blows us in verbal art. The past is crowded. The Academy and Pushkin are more incomprehensible than hieroglyphs. "Whoever does not forget his first love, does not recognize his last. Who, gullible, will turn his last love to Balmont's perfumery fornication? Does it reflect the courageous soul of today? Who, cowardly, is afraid to steal paper armor from the black tailcoat of Bryusov's warrior? Or "Dawns of unseen beauties upon them? Wash your hands, which have touched the filthy mucus of books written by those innumerable Leonid Andreevs. To all these Maxims Gorkys, Kuprins, Bloks, Sollogubs, Remizovs, Averchenks, Chernys, Kuzmins (Sollogub, Kuzmin instead of Sologub and Kuzmin is the so-called "misprints of disrespect" deliberately made by the authors of the manifesto), Bunin, etc., etc. All that is needed is a dacha on the river. fuck tailors. From the height of skyscrapers we look at their insignificance!. We order to honor the rights of poets: To increase the vocabulary in its volume by arbitrary and derivative words (Word-innovation). To an irresistible hatred for the language that existed before them. With horror, remove from your proud brow from bath brooms the Wreath of penny glory you made. To stand on a block of the word "we" in the midst of a sea of whistling and indignation. And if the dirty stigmas of your “common sense” and “good taste” still remain in our lines, then for the first time the Lightning Lightnings of the New Coming Beauty of the Self-valuable (self-sufficient) Word are already trembling on them. Moscow, 1912. December"

Random phraseology:

Dead, like aubry.

Meaning:

Every one of them perish, an abyss without a trace.

Origin:

From the chronicle of the monk of the Kiev-Pechersk monastery Nestor "The Tale of Bygone Years" (end of the XNUMXth - beginning of the XNUMXth century). "Aubrey" is the Old Slavonic name of the Avars (Obr) tribe, the neighbors of the ancient Slavs. The "Tale" says that around the VI century. Obry, having conquered the Slavic tribe of the Dulebs, began to do all sorts of violence against them. And then, as Nestor writes, God exterminated the invaders, "and not a single obrin remained. And there is a parable in Russia to this day: they perished, like an obri, their tribe has no heir (successors of the family)." It is characteristic that Nestor himself in this case means by "parable" exactly the winged words, a common saying in Russia, and he also gives the etymology of these words. Thus, the words "perished, like aubrey" is the oldest catch phrase in the Russian language dating back to at least the XNUMXth century.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

MCP4725 - DAC and EEPROM 14.03.2008

Microchip Technology specialists introduced the MCP4725 chip. They succeeded, according to the official press release, for the first time in the industry, to house a 23-bit DAC and non-volatile electrically erasable memory (EEPROM) in a six-pin SOT-12 package.

Due to its compactness and low power consumption, the novelty is very well suited for mobile devices. The presence of non-volatile memory allows the MCP4725 to independently store data values and restore them when the power is turned on. Usually, a microcontroller is required to implement such a function. In this way, system designers are able to reduce cost, power consumption, and product size.

According to the company, the current consumed by the high-precision DAC in sleep mode does not exceed 0,06 μA, which allows for increased battery life. Another feature of the microcircuit is the built-in output amplifier that generates an output signal equal in amplitude to the supply voltage.

Among the areas of application of the MCP4725 DAC are consumer electronics (players, cameras, navigators); medical devices (portable monitors of sugar level, pressure and heart rate); industrial electronics (pocket measuring instruments, control systems for electrical appliances); household appliances (washing machines and coffee makers); and automotive systems (LED lighting and security systems).
