Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Restoration of the Pyramid of Menkaure at Giza 08.02.2024

A major project to restore the pyramid of Pharaoh Menkaure, the third largest among the pyramids of Giza, has been announced by archaeologists from Egypt and Japan.

The restoration of the Pyramid of Menkaure represents a significant step in preserving the historical heritage of mankind and opens up new perspectives for the study of ancient civilizations.

It is planned to lay hundreds of granite blocks to restore the original appearance of this majestic structure, returning it to its original appearance as it was more than 4000 years ago. These blocks will be carefully studied using photogrammetry and laser scanning and then restored to their historical location.

The Secretary-General of Egypt's Supreme Council for Archeology, Dr. Mustafa Waziri, described the initiative as "the project of the century," Egypt's gift to the world in the 2150st century. The restoration of the Pyramid of Menkaure represents a unique opportunity to recreate this monument, which was built around XNUMX BC.

The project is at the stage of research, documentation and classification of blocks. Archaeologists plan to share the results with the international committee before taking further steps. Restoration work is expected to take about three years.

Researchers also hope to discover new archaeological finds hidden under the blocks or in their surroundings.
