Big seen in the distance

Yesenin S.A.
Yesenin S.A.

Phraseologism: Big seen in the distance.

Meaning: The true meaning, content, meaning of this or that historical event, phenomenon can be understood, evaluated only after some time has passed.

Origin: From the poem "Letter to a Woman" (1924) by Sergei Alexandrovich Yesenin (1895-1925): "Face to face // One cannot see a face. // A great thing is seen at a distance. // When the sea surface boils, // The ship is in a deplorable state" .

Random phraseology:

If there is a person, there is a problem; if there is no person, there is no problem.

Meaning:

Quoted as a reminder of the times of Stalinist terror.

Origin:

Erroneously attributed to I. V. Stalin: there is no evidence that he ever said or wrote something like that. This phrase is from the novel "Children of the Arbat" (1987) by Anatoly Naumovich Rybakov (1911-1998). This is how I. V. Stalin speaks about the execution of military experts in Tsaritsyn in 1918: "Death solves all problems. There is no person, and there is no problem." Later, in his "Roman-recollection" (1997), A. Rybakov himself wrote that he "probably heard this phrase from someone, perhaps he himself came up with it." That was the Stalinist principle. I just summed it up."

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. Parachute for the whole plane 07.12.2002

Aircraft parachutes, however, only for small light aircraft, are produced by the American company BRS.

There are many circumstances under which an aircraft may need a parachute. For example, a mid-air collision between two light aircraft, loss of control, a heart attack in the pilot, engine failure over terrain completely unsuitable for a normal landing, or at night when it is impossible to choose a suitable place ...

In case of danger, the pilot or passenger presses the handle, and the rocket pulls the parachute out of the package, fixed at the top of the fuselage. The plane slowly descends to the ground. The largest of the produced models has an umbrella with a diameter of 17 meters, weighs 27 kilograms and is able to save an aircraft with a total weight of 1,5 tons (but the slings can withstand breaking even 6 tons). Rescue can be carried out at speeds up to 250 kilometers per hour.

According to the manufacturer, the landing shock is three times weaker than what a person can withstand, according to medical data. To date, the company's parachutes have saved about two hundred lives.
