Phraseologism: The stove pot is dearer to you, you cook your own food in it.

Meaning: About a lack of understanding of the true value of culture in general and artistic creativity in particular, about narrow pragmatism as a consequence of human limitations and underdevelopment (ironic, contemptuous, disapproving).

Origin: From the poem "The Poet and the Crowd" (1829) by A. S. Pushkin (1799-1837). Its first publication took place under the title "Mobile". The mob (crowd) reproaches the poet that although his song is free like the wind, "but like the wind it is fruitless." And she asks the creator: "What use is it to us?" The poet replies: “Everything would be good for you - by weight // You appreciate the Belvedere idol. // You don’t see any benefit, you don’t see any benefit in it. // But this marble is a god!, so what? // The stove pot is dearer to you, / / You cook your own food in it." Later, this Pushkin image is used by N. A.
