Permanent revolution

Karl Marx
Karl Marx

Phraseologism: Permanent revolution.

Meaning: A protracted process of change, reform, etc. (jokingly ironic).

Origin: From German: "Die Revolution in Permanenz". Authorship is usually attributed to Leon Trotsky. But this expression entered the Russian language thanks to the founder of the social democratic movement in Russia, GV Plekhanov, who wrote about the "permanent revolution" in the 12th issue of the Diary of a Social Democrat (June 1910). He used in this case the term of Karl Marx (1818-1883) - die Revolution in Permanenz (continuous revolution), which is its author. Leon Trotsky first wrote (1905) about "continuous revolution" and "revolutionary continuity" (gaz. "Nachalo", November 8), and the expression "permanent revolution" came to him after February 1917, when he wrote in the pamphlet "What farther?" put forward the slogan: "Permanent revolution against permanent slaughter!" In 1932, his book "Permanent Revolution" was published, and this term became associated only with the name of Trotsky.

Random phraseology:

Big ship - a great sailing.

Meaning:

1. Commentary on the plans of an ambitious person (ironic). 2. Wishing success to a talented, worthy person (jokingly).

Origin:

Gogol (1809-1852). When the Governor was quite sure that he would intermarry through his daughter with an "official from St. Petersburg", he began to dream of career growth.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>
