Phraseologism: Not our man.

Meaning: About a person who is somehow different from the speaker, does not share his views, opinions, tastes, etc.

Origin: The expression was widely used in the USSR as a common image (political label), meaning a person of "alien" views, an adherent of a "hostile" ideology, a supporter of any "dangerous" ideas, tastes or moods that came from the West. In Russian literature, it is first found in the novel "The Brothers Karamazov" (1879-1880) by F. M. Dostoevsky (1821-1881). The words of Fyodor Karamazov: "Ivan is not our people, these people, like Ivan, these, brother, are not our people, this is the dust that has risen ..."
