Who was nothing, that will be all

Bible
Bible

Phraseologism: Who was nothing, that will become everything.

Meaning: About people who have taken an undeservedly high, inappropriate place, as well as about social practice, when such a movement "upward" of unworthy people becomes possible.

Origin: The final words of the first stanza of the poem "The Internationale" (1871) by Eugene Pottier (1816-1887) translated into Russian (1902) by Arkady Yakovlevich Kots (1872-1943). This is a paraphrase of famous biblical lines, the words of Jesus Christ: "The first will be the last, and the last will be the first" (Gospel of Matthew, 19, Gospel of Luke, 13 and Gospel of Mark, 10).

Random phraseology:

I just work as a magician.

Meaning:

A joking explanation of the successes, achievements, luck of the speaker, the answer to other puzzling questions.

Origin:

From the song "I work as a magician" (1964), written by the composer Eduard Kolmanovsky to the verses of the poet Lev Ivanovich Oshanin (1912-1996): "Why, my friend? Yes, because // I did not teach life from textbooks, // I just work wizard."

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. Hydrogen truck Mercedes-Benz GenH2 Truck 24.09.2020

The cargo division of the Mercedes-Benz brand introduced the GenH2 concept truck, equipped with fuel cell electric motors. The energy source is liquefied hydrogen, which is stored on board the tractor.

Fuel cells for trucks will be jointly developed by Daimler Truck from Germany and Volvo Group from Sweden. The authors of the project intend to use liquefied hydrogen, because in this state the energy carrier has a much higher energy density compared to volume than gaseous hydrogen. This solution will reduce the volume and mass of fuel tanks.

Mercedes-Benz GenH2 Truck received two 40-liter liquid hydrogen tanks, which will provide a range of up to 1000 km without refueling. The fuel cell system will provide a total of 300 kW of power, with an additional 70 kW stored in the battery - this reserve will help the truck on acceleration or when driving in the city with a full load. Peak power will be 400 kW, but they will be available for a limited period of time. A production truck will be able to replenish the energy reserve in the batteries due to energy recovery during braking or store excess energy from fuel cells.

The hydrogen truck will be equipped with a pair of electric motors. The constant power of each electric motor is 312 hp, but you can temporarily increase the output of the motors up to 449 hp. The serial version of the Mercedes-Benz GenH2 Truck will have a gross weight of 40 tons, taking into account the payload of 25 tons, which is comparable to the performance of the serial Mercedes-Benz Actros with internal combustion engines.
