HGST Starts Delivering New 2,5" CinemaStar HDDs 27.05.2012

HGST (Hitachi Global Storage Technologies), now owned by Western Digital, announced the availability of a limited number of new 2,5-inch CinemaStar hard drives designed for a variety of consumer electronics applications.

The CinemaStar Z7K500 model in 250/320/500 GB versions was the industry's first single-platter hard drive, which is enclosed in a 7 mm thick case, equipped with a SATA III interface, has 32 MB of cache memory and is characterized by a spindle speed of 7200 rpm.

The younger brother of the product described above is the CinemaStar Z5K500 hard drive, which has similar technical characteristics, but differs from it in a spindle speed reduced to 5400 rpm.
