Great Ormand Street Hospital patient Jamesy has a condition called Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Using sensors attached to his wrists, elbows and knees, doctors monitor how his movements are affected by this rare genetic disorder.
Professor Aldo Faisal of Imperial College was one of the scientists who came up with the idea.
"Our new approach reveals subtle movements that people can't catch. It has the potential to transform clinical trials, as well as improve patient diagnosis and monitoring," the scientist notes.
Researchers at Imperial College are testing motion-sensing suits for the first time on patients with FA. They found that artificial intelligence could predict an aggravation of the disease within twelve months, which is half as much as experts usually need.
