Georg Christoph Lichtenberg. The most famous aphorisms

  • Most people live by fashion, not by reason.
  • Everything becomes more refined: music was once noise, satire was libel, and where today they say "be kind", they once gave a crack.
  • If the head and the book collide and the sound of an empty body is heard, is the book always to blame?
  • The golden rule is to judge a person not by his opinions, but by what those opinions make of him.
  • Of all kinds of despotism, the most terrible is the despotism of belief and system. Most people are slaves to fashion and ridiculous customs.
  • Among the greatest discoveries to which the human mind has lately come is undoubtedly, in my opinion, the art of judging books without having read them.
  • Whoever understands nothing but chemistry understands it insufficiently.
  • The fist right has disappeared today, with the exception of the right for everyone to show their fist in their pocket.
  • The best satire is, without a doubt, one in which there is so little malice and so much persuasiveness that it brings a smile even to those it strikes.
  • The best way to praise the living and the dead is to excuse their weaknesses, but not to attribute to them virtues that they did not possess, this spoils everything and even makes the true suspicious.
  • It is possible, even without a deep mind, to write in such a way that another will need a lot of mind to understand what is written.
  • It is possible, without having a deep mind, to write in such a way that others will need a lot of intelligence to understand what is written.
  • How much better life would be for some people if they cared as little about other people's affairs as they care about their own.
  • Is it not surprising that people so often fight for religion and so rarely live according to its precepts?
  • Is it not surprising that the public, when it praises us, is always considered a competent judge, but as soon as it reproaches us, they are recognized as incapable of talking about the works of the mind.
  • Some people have the ability to appear stupid before they discover intelligence. In girls, this gift is especially common.
  • Nothing ages a person so quickly as the constant thought that he is aging.
  • A sharp mind is a magnifying glass, wit is a diminutive.
  • Let not undeserved censure upset you too much, but sometimes they praise you for nothing.
  • Reviewers have the right not only to tell people in the eye that they are fools, but even to prove it to them.
  • Parents who notice that their son wants to become a poet should flog him until he either gives up poetry or becomes a great poet.
  • The most entertaining surface on earth for us is the human face.
  • The most dangerous lie is the slightly twisted truth.
  • The most healthy and beautiful people are those who are not annoyed by anything.
  • Today I let the sun rise before me.
  • Where once there were the borders of science, now its center.
  • Where moderation is a mistake, there indifference is a crime.
  • A good tone is an octave lower.
  • A person loves society, even if it is the society of a lonely burning candle.
  • To do justice, you need to know very little, but to do injustice with good reason, you need to thoroughly study the law.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

Mini air conditioner Sony Reon Pocket 5 09.05.2024

Summer is a time for relaxation and travel, but often the heat can turn this time into an unbearable torment. Meet a new product from Sony - the Reon Pocket 5 mini-air conditioner, which promises to make summer more comfortable for its users. Users can easily adjust the temperature using a dedicated mobile app connected via Bluetooth. Additionally, specially designed T-shirts and shorts are available for convenience, to which a mini air conditioner can be attached. The device can oh ... >>

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

Conductive protein for 3D microarray assembly 13.02.2013

Three-dimensional microchips are considered the ideological heirs of modern "flat" microchips. It is believed that such devices will become more compact than their predecessors, and will have greater performance and less heat. The production of such devices has not yet been established due to the high cost of such chips and technological difficulties, as a result of which the percentage of yield of suitable crystals remains extremely low.

Manuel Thery from the University of Grenoble (France) and his colleagues have developed a cheap alternative to modern methods of assembling three-dimensional microchips, having learned how to manage the assembly of "biowires" from protein molecules. Scientists drew attention to the protein actin, the molecules of which form the "skeleton" of all cells in the human body. It is a water-soluble short chain of four hundred amino acids. When magnesium ions appear in solution, actin fragments quickly connect to each other, turning into strong polymer filaments.

Teri and his colleagues learned how to grow these filaments in the right parts of the “halves” of a three-dimensional chip by attaching special “seed” molecules to silicon wafers that caused the actin filaments to turn into a polymer without magnesium ions. These threads are intertwined with each other with a fairly small distance between the parts of the chip, forming strong "tunnels", the walls of which conduct current due to the gold atoms attached to them.

According to biotechnologists, this design conducts current no worse than "classic" metal contacts between layers of 3D chips. The low cost of protein molecules, the relative ease of their fabrication, and compatibility with other silicon microchip "growing" techniques make this technology a serious competitor for current XNUMXD microchip assembly methods.
