Focus Description:

The performer has a small piece of rope in his hand. He shows it to the audience. Wraps around the hand and unwinds again (Fig. 34, A). Then, holding one end of the rope with his right hand, he takes the other end with his left and pulls it up. After that, the performer removes his left hand, and the rope remains upright, like a stick (Fig. 34, B).

Taking the rope with his left hand at the base above the right, holding its lower end, the performer makes a sliding movement upwards along the entire rope with his left hand, clenched into a fist. And as his left hand slides, the audience sees that the rope before their eyes turns into a light silk handkerchief (Fig. 34, B). When the performer's left hand reaches the top of the piece of rope, he disappears, leaving a beautiful colorful scarf in his right hand.

Focus secret:

For the trick, you need half a meter of a round linen rope and a colorful silk scarf made of light fabric measuring 30X25 cm. A button is sewn to one of the corners of the handkerchief. The other diagonally opposite corner of the handkerchief is pinned with a small safety pin, which should freely enter the hollow sheath of the rope. The end of the scarf with a pin is inserted into the hole in the rope cover. Then the handkerchief is pulled through the entire cover to the end (Fig. 34, D). This will allow the rope to return to its original form. One end of the scarf will hold the button. On the other, remove the pin, align the tip of the scarf with the end of the cover and tie a knot at this end of the scarf (Fig. 34, E). Now the props are ready. It, as always, is laid out on an illusion table.

Starting to demonstrate the trick, the performer takes the rope with his right hand at the end where the button is located, and winds the rest of it around the same hand. Having shown the audience that the rope is the most common, the performer pulls it into a vertical position, pulls it harder, and then briefly releases the upper end of the rope with a knot. For some time the rope will stand like that.

Now you can proceed to the second part of the trick - turning the rope into a handkerchief. The left hand of the performer clasps the rope, located above the right; moving up, she drags the cover of the rope with her and exposes a colorful handkerchief, which the performer at this time pulls with his right hand by the button. Having brought the left hand to the upper end of the rope with a knot, the performer pulls off the cover completely, leaving only a handkerchief in his right hand. And the cover, assembled by the accordion, remains in the left fist of the performer. He quickly and imperceptibly puts the case into his pocket or into a cylinder or box on his illusion table.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. Hygiene from A to Z 07.09.2006

English microbiologist Anthony Hilton tested the keys A (a letter often used in English texts) and Z (a rare letter) on the keyboards of 120 university computers for the presence of germs.

Each computer is used by at least 20 students daily. It turned out that on the keys A, on average, 150 bacteria, and on Z - only 30. Staphylococci predominate, but bacteria of the Escherichia coli group were also found on 3% of the A keys.

The conclusion of the microbiologist: do not lick your fingers when working on a computer, especially on a public one, do not eat while working and wash your hands after using the keyboard.
