Focus Description:

Among the magician's props on his table lies an ordinary rope. The performer shows it to the audience; so that the audience can once again be convinced that it is ordinary, he ties it in a knot, then rolls it in half with a tourniquet (Fig. 28, A).

Suddenly the rope in the performer’s hand stretches into a string and freezes in a vertical position. Then the magician touches the middle of the rope with his finger, and it turns into the letter "G". As the performer touches the rope, it obediently takes on different shapes and then returns to its previous form. Having finished demonstrating the trick, the performer places the rope on the illusion table.

Focus secret:

For this number, you will need a piece of linen twisted (round) rope 100 cm long, a fishing line with a diameter of 0,2 cm and a length of 101 cm, and several dozen cylinders 1,5-2 cm long and 0,1 cm in diameter less than the diameter of the rope.

First of all, you should free the piece of rope from the internal threads. In other words, you need to pull out all the internal threads that fill the round rope. All that will remain of it is the upper cover, or “stocking,” with a through hole along its entire length. Now we need to prepare several dozen cylinders of aluminum, plastic or wood. The cylinders are strung on a piece of fishing line so that 1 cm is left free at both ends of the fishing line (Fig. 28, D).

Then you need to pull a rope cover over these unique beads. She will look like the real one again. The cylinders inside the sheath must be at a certain distance from each other so that the rope can be freely tied into a knot and twisted with a rope, like an ordinary one. The upper end of the rope must be secured tightly, firmly fastening the fishing line and the cover. The other end of the fishing line is tied to a white button with a metal eye, the diameter of which is slightly larger than the diameter of the cylinders. The button should not slip inside the case when the fishing line is pulled.

When the audience is convinced that the performer is holding an ordinary rope in his hands, you can proceed to the performance. The magician takes in his hand the end of the rope to which the button is attached. Holding it between the little finger and the ring or middle finger, he tightens the line by sliding his thumb and forefinger along it. This movement of the fingers will press the cylinders tightly together, and the rope will freeze in a vertical position.

To give the rope the shape of the letter “L”, the performer just needs to touch it just above the middle with the index finger of his free hand, and with the other hand release the tension on the line. The cylinders at the point of contact will separate, and the upper part of the rope will lower, depicting the desired figure.
