Focus Description:

One of the spectators puts a coin on the table and covers it with an inverted cup. Then a magician comes up to the table and unmistakably determines the value of the hidden coin. They put a second coin, cover it - again the correct answer. Third, fourth, fifth - not a single mistake! (Fig. 1).

How does he get it? He can't see through the cup, is it opaque? Well, the fact that he did not peep is absolutely certain. All the time he stood with his back to the table and even went out into another room.

Focus secret:

Firstly, a magician cannot do without an assistant (assistant). And secondly, they both need something to remember well. An important role in performing the trick is played by the position of the cup on the table, or rather, not even the position of the cup, but in which direction its handle is directed. Look at fig. 2. This picture must be memorized.

For convenience of explanation, we will take the direction of movement of the hour hand as the main direction. And then everything is simple. If one penny is hidden under the cup, the pen "shows" twelve hours; if two pennies, the pen stops between one and two; three kopecks under a cup - three hours. And so on: five kopecks, ten, fifteen, twenty and fifty. It may be easier for someone to remember, linking the value of the coins and the direction of the parts of the world. Let's say one penny is north, two pennies is northeast.

Well, and thirdly, the magician and his assistant need complete coordination of actions. Rehearse well so that it doesn't turn out that the north of one would be the south of the other. By the way, the audience should not know that the magician among them has "his" person.
