Focus Description:

Focus secret:

The secret of the screen lies in the fact that its middle frame has a rotating middle (Fig. 157, B). This middle-door is designed in such a way that it can rotate on an axis, which is located in the center of its upper and lower slats. In order not to see the gap, it is best to paste over the frames of the wings with velvet, and paint the middle panels beautifully. The pattern of the side walls on both sides should be the same. The middle wall when rotated (for display to the audience) will always have the same pattern, and it will appear to the public that both sides of all three doors are colored the same.

It is necessary to train well in showing the screen empty on both sides. First, it is folded into a triangle. Both extreme sides of the left and right wings turn to the audience and imperceptibly turn the middle door with bags inside. They turn the screen around and begin to take out various items from the bags that are attached to the back of the door - "charging". Then they turn the middle door over again with the bag outward and, opening the screen doors, again show the screen, as in the figure. Again, fold it into a triangle and take out various things.

It is very portable and easy to carry, and can be placed on the table in advance as a decorative item. And then, after performing several tricks, the screen can also be put into action.

Mechanism that turns smells into memories discovered 25.12.2017

Neurobiology from Germany followed the processes occurring in the brain when a person remembers a smell. It turned out that this requires the coordinated work of several brain structures.

It is known that the piriform cortex is able to temporarily store memories of smells. The researchers wanted to test whether this also applies to long-term memories. It is worth mentioning that the storage of memories in the brain is possible due to synaptic plasticity - the change in connections between neurons and the emergence of new ones.

The researchers suggested that in order to remember, the piriform body needs some kind of "instruction" from another area of the brain, the orbitofrontal cortex, responsible for discerning sensory sensations. In another experiment, neuroscientists stimulated the orbitofrontal cortex and produced a long-term memory in the piriformis.

In accordance with the results of the study, the piriform body is indeed able to serve as a repository of long-term memories. However, to do this, he needs instructions from the otbitofrontal cortex - a higher located area of the brain - signaling that the event needs to be stored in long-term memory.
