Props:

Silk scarf measuring approximately 50x55 cm.

Sword of a special device.

Secret of the trick:

The secret of the trick is in the device of the sword. On fig. 160 shows a sword and its detail - a hilt. The sword itself is hollow inside, made of sheet brass or copper 1 mm thick. The blade is about 70 cm long, 25 mm wide at the bottom and 5 mm wide at the top. The sword is quadrangular, in the section it looks like a rhombus. An end 15 mm long is attached to it, exactly matching the top of the sword (Fig. 160, A). A hook is made inside it, to which a strong elastic rubber is tied. The second end of the rubber is passed through the upper hole of the sword, strongly pulled and firmly tied at the lower end, inserted into the handle, where it is firmly clamped. The tension of the rubber should be such that it holds the tip of the sword very firmly at the top.

The inner upper edges of the sword must be carefully trimmed so as not to cut the rubber. A small metal ring with a diameter of 5 mm is soldered to the upper sharp end of the sword.

A handkerchief is placed in the hollow handle, folding it carefully. At the same time, the rubber is kept strongly stretched all the time. Then ring B, sewn to the scarf, is put on a pin passed inside the handle and ending with a button G. The pin has a thickness of 2 mm, its end, on which the ring is hung, is rounded. A pin is issued when the G button is pressed by 15 mm. Spring D, put on the pin, pushes it in the direction of the arrow E. To keep the ring on the pin, you need to press the button G to the handle with your right index finger.

One has only to release the finger, as the pin will immediately go inside the handle and the ring, freed from the pin, will be immediately attracted by the rubber along with the tip of the sword and the handkerchief to the top of the sword (see Fig. 159).

Coming out with a sword loaded with a handkerchief, the performer must move the blade all the time so that the audience cannot notice the stretched rubber. Holes are made in the hilt of the sword, a handkerchief is passed through one of them when charging. The hole and its inner edges must be very carefully cleaned. A folded handkerchief, laid inside the hilt of a sword, is shown in fig. 160, B.

The scarf is tied to the ring with a light slip knot or sewn with one thread. You can not make rings, but just release a small loop of fishing line from the sharp end of the sword and put it on the pin.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

NCP693 - new low power LDO regulator 30.12.2009

ON Semiconductor has launched the NCP693 series of fixed output voltage LDOs designed for use in high power applications. The maximum output current of stabilizers is 1 A.

Each device contains a reference voltage source, an error signal amplifier, a power transistor, resistors for setting the output voltage, an overcurrent and overtemperature protection circuit. Regulators consume only 65 µA in no load, and < 0,15 µA in standby mode. The NCP693 is available in a 1,8x2,0x0,50mm DFN package.

Standard output voltage versions are 0,8V, 1,0V, 1,2V, 2,5V and 3,3V. Key Features. Iq - 65 µA (typ.) at no load. Maximum operating voltage - 6,5 V. Low output voltage - up to 0,8 V. Output voltage setting accuracy - 1%. Built-in auto-discharge function for version D.
