Focus Description:

The performer shows the two assistants, called from the audience, two wide long silk ribbons and allows them to be held by the ends. Then, grabbing her hands near the middle, she asks one of the assistants to take scissors and cut both tapes (Fig. 7)

The ribbons are cut. Taking the four ends in his left hand, the magician asks to light a candle. On the flame of a candle, he burns the ends of four cut ribbons (Fig. 8). When the ends of the ribbons are burned, the illusionist approaches the table, takes the "magic" wand in his right hand and touches it to his left hand, then puts the wand back in place. (If desired, you can use a fan, first they fan the flame, and then extinguish it.)

Approaching the assistants, he gives them a ribbon in each hand and asks them to step back and pull them. Then the performer opens his left hand - the tapes are intact (Fig. 9).

Props:

Two wide silk ribbons of the same color, 2 m each.

The stock of the same tape is four meters. This is enough for 8-10 performances. A piece about 40-45 cm long is cut off from the stock and a ring is sewn together with threads in the color of the ribbon (Fig. 23, A).

Focus secret:

Taking the tapes from the table, the performer imperceptibly takes the ring in his left hand. Showing the ribbons in his hand, he secretly threads them into the ring (Fig. 23, B) and, stretching the ring, holds it in places P and L (Fig. 23, C) with the index thumbs of the right and left hands.

The ring is cut at point K. After that, both halves of the ribbons are folded in the left hand, and the P and L places are clamped with the thumb (Fig. 24). Then the ends of the tapes are fired (this will make them smaller and easier to hide). Then the ribbons are handed out with the right hand, making sure that each girl holds different ends (see Fig. 9).

The ends of the burnt ring are secretly taken in the right hand and masked with a handkerchief taken in hand, or with a "magic" wand. It is necessary to discreetly hide the remains of the ring. This should be practiced more, just like in threading ribbons into a ring.

New use for Blu-ray discs 12.10.2012

Japanese companies Memory-Tech, krypton, Q-tec and Camerata Tokyo intend to offer the market a new "format" of audio discs, which uses Blu-ray discs as a medium. These manufacturers have formed an alliance called "Promotion Group of Blu-ray Disc for High Resolution Audio", which will promote the development.

The new discs will use 96kHz/24bit or 192kHz/24bit encoding with Linear PCM (uncompressed) to store sound recordings. The main advantage of Linear PCM - high quality, free from loss associated with compression. The main disadvantage is the large consumption of disk space.

The new discs will be compatible with existing BD players and recorders. Taking into account that in the BD Video standard it is obligatory to support only 96 kHz sampling rate, and 192 kHz is an option, one and the same recording will have to be placed on discs in two versions.

The members of the alliance are going to offer record companies complete sets of equipment for creating and replicating new discs. Camerata Tokyo plans to release the first three albums in the new format in November. They are expected to be no more expensive than SACD editions.
