Focus Description:

A spectator is handed a deck, asked to think of a number (which he keeps secret), then he deals that number of cards onto the table. While he is doing this, the magician turns his back and writes the name of the card on a piece of paper.

The spectator is asked to deal a certain number of cards from the pile, based on the number he originally intended. He turns over the top card of the remaining pile, and the magician reveals that this is the card he wrote down on paper.

Focus secret:

1. Fan out the cards, as if checking for a joker among them. Look at the ninth card from the bottom of the deck (see picture) and memorize it. It's not exactly a "quick look" technique, but it takes a certain amount of concentration to make everything look natural. Instead of counting from one to nine, it will be easier for you to count three groups of three cards - the top card of the third three will be the ninth card from the bottom.

2. With a card in mind (assuming it is the King of Diamonds), perform a fake shuffle 1, keeping the top nine cards or more in their original position. Hand the deck face down to a volunteer, let's call him Sergei. The King of Diamonds is the ninth card from the top.

3. Say: "Sergey, please think of a number, not too small and not too big - let's say from 10 to 19. Don't say it to me. I want you to deal one by one, face down, the number of cards corresponding to the number you have in mind."

4. Wait for Sergey to start (make sure he doesn't shuffle the cards before dealing) and then turn your back saying "While you are doing this, I will turn my back and write the prediction on this piece of paper."

5. Write the name of the ninth card from the top (in our case it is the king of diamonds). Fold the paper in half.

Focus Another Prediction
Before performing the trick, you must memorize the ninth card from the bottom of the face-up deck, in this case the King of Diamonds.

6. Turn your face again and say: “Done, Sergey? Good. Put the main deck aside and take the cards you just dealt. Now, whatever number you originally thought of, add both numbers to get a new one, - for example If you thought 16, add 1 and 6 and get 7. Counted? Now deal this number of cards from the pile that you hold in your hand. Great. Now let's remember what you did. You took a shuffled deck, thought of the number that you held secret, and after using that number in two different ways, you're left with a small pile of cards in your hand. So, no one can know the top card in this pile, right? It could be any card in fifty-two, right? What Well, won't you turn it over?" Make sure Sergey turns over the top card in his hand and not the top card in the pile on the table.

7. Sergey turns over the card. This is the king of tambourines. Say, "Well, that's incredible. Look at the prediction I wrote on the paper."

8. You unfold the piece of paper on which you wrote: "King of Diamonds."

This trick should work, because if Sergey deals 13 cards, he later draws 4 (1 + 3), if he deals 18, he draws 9 (1 + B). Whatever number he guesses, the top card in the pile that he holds in his hand will initially be the ninth card from the top of the deck that you memorized and predicted.

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The threat of space debris to the Earth's magnetic field 01.05.2024

More and more often we hear about an increase in the amount of space debris surrounding our planet. However, it is not only active satellites and spacecraft that contribute to this problem, but also debris from old missions. The growing number of satellites launched by companies like SpaceX creates not only opportunities for the development of the Internet, but also serious threats to space security. Experts are now turning their attention to the potential implications for the Earth's magnetic field. Dr. Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics emphasizes that companies are rapidly deploying satellite constellations, and the number of satellites could grow to 100 in the next decade. The rapid development of these cosmic armadas of satellites can lead to contamination of the Earth's plasma environment with dangerous debris and a threat to the stability of the magnetosphere. Metal debris from used rockets can disrupt the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Both of these systems play a key role in protecting the atmosphere and maintaining ... >>

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

Banana skin flour 07.10.2022

American researchers made flour from a banana skin and added it to the dough. The biscuits they made turned out to be healthier than the biscuits made from wheat flour. To make flour from banana skins, the researchers dried and ground the skins of ripe bananas into a fine powder.

By mixing flour with butter, milk powder, powdered sugar, vegetable oil and wheat flour, they baked a batch of cookies. Scientists have found fiber, magnesium, potassium, antioxidants and other important nutrients in banana peel flour.

In addition, biscuits made with banana peel flour were healthier, lower in fat and protein, higher in phenols, and better in antioxidant activity than regular biscuits.
