Focus Description:

Any ten cards are dealt to the table. The magician turns his back, and the spectator is asked to touch one card so that everyone present, with the exception of the magician, can see which card he touches. The magician turns his face again and carefully examines the cards. Asking the spectator to focus first on the color, then on the value of the chosen card, he then names it.

Props:

Any nine cards and an accomplice.

Focus secret:

This trick has been assigned a second mastery level, although no special skills are required for it. Its success depends on the level of dexterity with which your accomplice tells you the name of the card, and on the naturalness with which you accept the information without showing what is really happening.

1. Ten cards are laid out in accordance with the suit icons on the ten (see figure). Your accomplice, as in the "One against eight" trick, is Evgenia (since one accomplice is enough for any magician). Evgenia, of course, knows the map touched by the spectator (let's call him Leonid).

2. When you turn your face again, carefully study the cards, you can frown if you want. Raise your eyes as if you are puzzled and look at the audience, take a quick look at Eugenia: she is actually sending you a signal with her hands.

3. To point you to the top card of the left column (three of spades in our illustration), she puts her right hand on her left shoulder. To indicate the next (four of diamonds), she puts her hand between her shoulder and elbow. For the next (ace of clubs) - puts his hand on his left forearm. For the bottom in the left column (five of hearts) - puts the right hand on the left.

4. About any card in the right column, Evgenia signals in the same way, only this time she puts her left hand on her right. There are two cards left in the center. To point to the top (for you, it is distant), she touches her chin, neck or lips with her hand, and to point to the bottom, she simply lowers her hands.

5. After receiving a message from Eugenia, scratch the back of your head. This will let her know that she can relax.

Focus Mind Reading
Layout of cards for the focus "Reading minds". The signals corresponding to each card are described in the text.

6. You should now make the most of the suspense from the moment the card is discovered. You shouldn't just tease her like that. Let's say the seven of hearts was chosen (Eugenia's left hand squeezes her right forearm). Say, "I feel red. I'm sure it's a red card. Now focus on its suit, Leonidas." We happen to have an XNUMX, a XNUMX, and a XNUMX of hearts in our spread, so say, "This is very difficult, because it can be both a XNUMX and an XNUMX of hearts. I think it's higher than a XNUMX. It seems to me that the card, oh which you think, Leonid, is the seven of worms."

You can repeat this trick two or three times, each time with a different volunteer from the public, such as Evgenia. She should choose the bottom card in the center, as the pose with her hands down will be the most natural for her. It will be more interesting if you lay out new ten cards every time you repeat the trick.

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The threat of space debris to the Earth's magnetic field 01.05.2024

More and more often we hear about an increase in the amount of space debris surrounding our planet. However, it is not only active satellites and spacecraft that contribute to this problem, but also debris from old missions. The growing number of satellites launched by companies like SpaceX creates not only opportunities for the development of the Internet, but also serious threats to space security. Experts are now turning their attention to the potential implications for the Earth's magnetic field. Dr. Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics emphasizes that companies are rapidly deploying satellite constellations, and the number of satellites could grow to 100 in the next decade. The rapid development of these cosmic armadas of satellites can lead to contamination of the Earth's plasma environment with dangerous debris and a threat to the stability of the magnetosphere. Metal debris from used rockets can disrupt the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Both of these systems play a key role in protecting the atmosphere and maintaining ... >>

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

Platform MediaTek LinkIt Smart 7688 01.12.2015

MediaTek Labs has unveiled the MediaTek LinkIt Smart 7688 Developer Platform, the latest addition to the LinkIt Developer Platform series.

The new platform provides developers with rich programming options and allows them to quickly build modern devices with Wi-Fi modules and access to cloud services such as IP cameras, surveillance systems, smart home appliances and Wi-Fi gateways.

Two hardware development kits (HDKs) will go on sale: LinkIt Smart 7688 with MediaTek MT7688AN chipset and LinkIt Smart 7688 Duo, additionally equipped with an Arduino-compatible microcontroller. Both breadboards are equipped with a built-in Wi-Fi modem, 128MB RAM and 32MB ROM modules, and a wide range of options for connecting peripherals.

"Encouraging innovation in the IoT is one of the priorities of MediaTek Labs. Today's addition to the LinkIt family of products is created specifically for the numerous developer communities working with open-source platforms with integration into cloud services. We believe that our new products will contribute to the implementation of the most daring ideas of developers and will make our world even more united in the context of global communications,” commented Mark Neidell, vice president of MediaTek Labs, commenting on the announcement. popular programming languages and compatibility with Linux".

Three developer communities will immediately find clear benefits in using the LinkIt Smart 7688 development board:

1. OpenWrt developers will be able to use the OpenWrt SDK to create applications in C language for their IoT devices, as well as use more than 2000 ready-made software modules to implement additional functionality.
2. Developers of applications for mobile platforms and the web, thanks to the support of Node.js and Python, will be able to easily integrate their developments into the IoT environment.
3. Arduino developers can use the Arduino IDE to develop applications for the built-in microcontroller in the LinkIt Smart 7688 Duo and control peripherals in real time.

The MediaTek LinkIt Smart 7688 and 7688 Duo development boards will be available worldwide through Seeed Studio channels starting December 1, 2015. The LinkIt Smart 7688 is $12,9 and the LinkIt Smart 7688 Duo is $15,9. An open-source version of the Wi-Fi driver is under development and will be available on the MediaTek Labs website in a few months.
