Focus Description:

The spectator selects a card from the shuffled deck, remembers it and returns it to its place. The magician shuffles the cards again, divides the deck into two parts, the spectator chooses his half, and the magician takes the other. Everyone deals from his pile a certain number of cards, determined by the spectator. No card is the card chosen by the helper. They exchange stacks and repeat the exercise. This time, one of them turns over the chosen card.

Focus secret:

Give the deck to one of the spectators (let's call him Max) and ask him to completely shuffle the cards. Taking the deck back from him, fan it face down and ask him to choose a card, look at it, remember it and return it to the half of the deck that you hold in your left hand. With half of the deck in your right hand, pass with the two halves of the deck, after which the chosen card will be on the top of the deck, and go directly to the fake shuffle 1 or fake shuffles 2 and 3, which will keep the chosen card on the top of the deck.

1. Then divide the deck into two parts and place the two halves on the table. Say to Max: "Which half of the deck do you think your chosen card is in?" Ask him to take this half, and you yourself take the other.

2. Now ask him to guess which card from the bottom can be his card in the pile.

Suppose he says - the tenth. Say, "Okay, let's both deal ten cards face down on the table." When you do, ask Max to turn over the top card of the pile he dealt to the table and see if it's his card. This is not his card. (Actually, this card is the bottom one in one of the piles. You know which pile it is.)

3. Turn over the top card of your pile. This is also not a selected card. Say, "Here's what we'll do. We'll both put the cards we looked at back on our piles, and then we'll put those piles on top of the piles in our hands. Now let's exchange piles and see if we're lucky this time."

4. Exchange piles and say: "Now I will deal ten cards face down from my pile, and you from yours."

5. When you do this, the selected card will be on top of one of the piles. You know which stack is on top. The focus is more effective if the selected card is opened second. And further enhances the effect of the magician's suggestion that Max name it before opening it.

6. Suppose the chosen card is on top of Max's pile. Say, "Before we look at both cards, by the way, which card did you choose?" Max will call. Suppose this is a deuce of tambourines. Turn over your card and say, "Well, I don't have it, do you?" Max turns over his card - it's a deuce of tambourines.

7. Say, "Well, it took us two tries, but it worked out in the end."

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Electronics will assess the tone of the computer user 18.12.2013

In May 2014, the Vigo compact device is expected to appear on the market, designed to monitor the user's physical activity.

Externally, the novelty resembles a mobile headset. The gadget has a built-in infrared sensor, multi-axis accelerometer and gyroscope. The information received from the sensors is used to analyze head movements, the frequency and duration of blinks, as well as the speed of opening and closing of the eyelids. The indicators are transferred to a special mobile application for the Android or iOS operating system.

If Vigo detects excessive fatigue or loss of focus, the user will be given a warning signal. This can be a vibration, a sound alert, or a light indication (a small LED is used).
Users can adjust the sensitivity level of Vigo, as well as analyze the accumulated information.

The device is equipped with a Bluetooth 4.0 wireless adapter, a low-voltage ARM Cortex processor with an operating frequency of 16 MHz, and a lithium-ion polymer battery that lasts for two to three days of use.

The main task of Vigo is to issue warnings about loss of concentration and fatigue. For example, the device will be able to warn the driver that he is distracted from the road: this will help to avoid a possible accident or collision with a pedestrian.

The developers intend to raise funds for the release of new items using the Kickstarter crowdfunding resource. The initial price will be $60.
