Focus Description:

The viewer puts the fingers of his left hand like a fan on the table, as if playing the piano. Two cards are placed between every two fingers. Similarly, two cards are placed between the fingers of the right hand, but only one card is placed between the index finger and thumb. Pairs of cards are separated: one is placed in one pile, the other in another. The spectator places the unpaired card in any pile of his choice. But the magician makes the unpaired card change its pile!

Focus secret:

This is a simple trick that works on its own. After it, you must quickly move on to the next, because if the public has time to think, it will reveal the secret.

1. Ask a spectator, let's call her Katya, to put her fingers on the table so that you can place cards between them. Starting with the gap between the little finger and the ring finger of her left hand, place two cards at a time, asking her to close her fingers so that the cards stand straight. Continue by placing two cards between each two fingers, ending at the gap between the index finger and thumb. Now do the same with the right hand, but when you reach the gap between the index and thumb, place only one card there, drawing the attention of the public that there will be only one card.

2. Say, "I'm going to take each pair of cards in turn and put one card in one pile, the other in another." Begin by taking a pair of cards located between the little finger and ring finger of the left hand and placing one card on the left and the other on the right. Say, "Here's one pair." Take the next two cards and arrange them in piles, saying: "Here is another pair."

3. When you reach the unpaired card between the index and thumb of your right hand, you will have two stacks of cards in front of you. Tell Katya: "There is only one unpaired card left. Which pile do you want to put it in? You can choose any."

4. Katya will put an unpaired card in one of the piles - no matter which one. Now say, pointing to the pile in which Katya put the last card: "In this pile we have an unpaired card. I am going to use my hidden magical abilities to transfer this card to another pile."

5. Pat the pile containing the unpaired card and mutter any small spell, then pick up the pile and deal the cards in two piles as you did before, saying "Here's a pair and here's a pair", etc. Strangely unpaired the card will disappear.

6. Say, "It worked. The unpaired card is gone. All that's left is to check if it really moved to another pile." Take another pile and count the pairs. Oddly enough, at the end you will find that one card is left without a pair. Say, "Oh, there she is. The world is still full of unexplained mysteries."

If you think carefully, you will understand that since there are only nineteen cards, the pile without an additional card will only have nine cards, while the pile pointed to by Katya will contain ten.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

New properties of black holes 25.09.2018

A UC Berkeley mathematician has shown that Albert Einstein's equations of relativity suggest that inside some black holes, the past of a conventional observer is erased and various futures appear. This refutes one of the fundamental cosmological theories - the theory of "cosmic censorship".

The scientist’s calculations show that in the case of some types of black holes in an expanding universe like ours, an observer could survive a transition beyond the event horizon from a deterministic world to an indeterministic one, where his past would be erased and his future became uncertain.

What life would be like in a space where the past has disappeared and the future has an infinite number of options is unclear. But Hintz's conclusion doesn't mean that Einstein's equations of general relativity, which still perfectly describe the evolution of the universe, are wrong, says the author of the discovery.

“As far as I know, no physicist is going to travel inside a black hole and measure what is happening in it. This is a purely mathematical problem, and the solution I proposed makes the Einstein equations mathematically more interesting,” Hintz says. “This is a question that can really be studied mathematically , but the answer to it has physical, almost philosophical implications, which makes solving the riddle of erasing the past beyond the event horizon a very cool thing to do."
