Focus Description:

In the hands of a glass of red wine. Take a few sips from it. The audience can see that a red liquid is splashing in the glass.

Momentarily cover the glass with the palm of your hand and turn it upside down. Immediately pull the red handkerchief down with the fingers of that hand. The glass was empty!

Focus secret:

The glass is divided by a mirror partition, which gives the impression of a whole glass when viewed from the side.

A red liquid is poured into one half of it. From above, this part is sealed with thin plexiglass. The liquid should not reach the rim of the glass so that when shaken it can be seen that it splashes.

A handkerchief of the same color as the liquid is placed in the other half of the glass, which will not be visible behind the mirror partition.

Raise the glass to your lips and pretend to drink. Then turn it upside down and turn it 180 degrees and pull out the handkerchief.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. Movement of self-driving cars without marking 29.09.2016

Hitachi Automotive Systems has developed a new software and hardware system that will help self-driving cars keep moving in the right lane, even if the markings are not visible.

Cameras that monitor the situation in front of the car, in certain situations, can transmit insufficient detail to the on-board computer to accurately determine the markings on the road. This can happen, for example, in bad weather, when the markings are simply impossible to see.

In such a situation, the Lane Mark Fusion complex, created by Hitachi specialists, is called upon to help the autopilot. The idea is to use existing camera data to determine the lane lines: it can be saved during previous trips on the same road, or, say, written into the computer's memory by a navigation software developer.

Lane Mark Fusion can keep your vehicle moving in the correct lane, even if the lane itself is not visible, using lane marking information and GPS readings.
