Focus Description:

On the table is a vase full of sweets in colorful wrappers. Take it and treat the audience with sweets. Then put the vase back on the table and cover it with a colorful scarf. Wave your “magic wand”, pull off the handkerchief with a quick, deft movement and ... instead of sweets, there will be nuts in the vase!

Focus secret:

To demonstrate focus, you will need:

- a vase - with or without a stem, but preferably from colored glass;

- a bright thick scarf - of such a size that it completely covers the vase;

- sweets and nuts, a lot of bright candy wrappers;

- thick cardboard and a ring with a diameter of 3,4 cm.

Focus Extraordinary vase

First you need to make a secret box. This is a cylinder with a height of 3-4 cm below the walls of the vase and a diameter equal to the diameter of the bottom of the vase. The box is made of cardboard and completely glued with candy wrappers, and fake candies are also glued on top so that the cardboard is not visible at all. A ring is attached to its bottom from the outside (Fig. a).

Insert this box-cylinder into a vase, after filling it with nuts (Fig. b).

Then pour real candies on top, which you will treat the audience to. After you treat the audience with sweets and return the vase to its place, cover it with a handkerchief, wave your “magic wand”, grab the ring through the handkerchief and pull off the handkerchief along with the secret cylinder (Fig. c).

Then, in one motion, deftly and quickly place the handkerchief together with the cylinder on the sideboard. The audience will not have time to notice the secret and understand how the sweets in the vase turned into nuts. Now you can safely treat the audience with nuts.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Highly elastic OLED 21.03.2021

Researchers at Yonsei University in Seoul have developed an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) that can be easily stretched to a large extent. The secret is that everything from the substrate and electrodes to the OLED stack is made from flexible materials.

The researchers claim this is the first time an OLED has been built from stretchable components. Previous attempts have built on the integration of rigid OLEDs on a stretchable substrate.

The elastic components use materials such as silicone rubber, silver nanowires, and newly developed OLED stack materials. All of them were deposited on the substrate in the form of solutions. According to project participants, OLED performance and performance remained good even after 200 cycles of stretching at 40% followed by compression. However, even significant stretching did not lead to damage. It is important that the LED can withstand not only stretching in one direction, but also arbitrary deformations.

The researchers were able to make LEDs in three primary colors, so the technology described is suitable for displays.
