Take two thin glass or metal tubes. Insert one of them tightly into the cork of a small bottle with some liquid (water, cologne, varnish, paint). Put another tube in relation to the first one at a right angle. You will get the simplest spray gun. With this sprayer, you can spray the smallest drops of the liquid you need. Why does the liquid rise from the vial into the tube under the action of an air jet?

The simplest spray gun

Gases and liquids in tubes or in narrow parts of the channel pass faster, but the pressure on the walls of the tubes or channel will be weaker. In wide tubes or channels, the passage of gases and liquids will be calmer, but the pressure on the walls will be stronger. When we blow with our mouth or a rubber bulb into the free knee of the atomizer, then a column of air with reduced pressure appears above the tube dipped into the liquid. Atmospheric pressure drives the liquid up the second knee, leaving which the liquid breaks into tiny drops.

In technology, more advanced and powerful tools made by this method are widely used, which serve to cover surfaces with paint or varnish.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Smart driver's seat responds to driver gestures 15.08.2015

Scientists from the Fraunhofer Institute for Silicate Research (Fraunhofer-Institut fur Silicatforschung ISC), as well as the company Isringhausen, which specializes in car seats, presented a fully functional joint development.

We are talking about a smart driver's seat, which is configured not with levers and buttons, but with brush gestures. The chair is equipped with a number of sensors, and the place where they are located is covered with a special synthetic material. To activate the sensors, the driver must touch the area on the side of the seat with their hand. This prevents accidental activation of the seat adjustment system. Then, using a series of intuitive gestures, the driver will be able to move the seat closer to the steering wheel or move it away, change the seating height, the angle of the backrest, the degree of lumbar support, and so on.

The creators of the chair claim that the whole process resembles the use of a touch screen in mobile devices, only the movements are more exaggerated. By adjusting the seat for themselves, the driver can save the settings in memory and return the seat to this position if the car is used by several people.

Initially, the system was designed for professional truck drivers who spend most of their lives on the road. But the developers hope that a variety of automakers will be interested in such a solution.

The prototype of the smart driver's seat will be presented to visitors at the 65th IAA Cars 2015 international commercial vehicle show, which will be held in the second half of September in Frankfurt.
