Electricity repels. Physical experiments

Experiences with octopus и cowardly showed that electricity can do more than just attract. Sometimes it is repulsive. The tentacles of the octopus repel each other. And the coward's hair stood on end because they also repelled.
Why does electricity behave so strangely, so inconsistently? It turned out that there is not one, but two types of electricity. One species is the one with which we have done most of our experiments. It is obtained by rubbing plastic, ebonite, sealing wax with wool. But there is another kind of electricity. To get it, you need to rub a glass rod or plate with a silk cloth. Only from real glass, not from organic!
This experience at home turns out badly. It is necessary that both the glass rod and the silk cloth are very clean and very dry. If you achieve this, you will see that the "glassy" electricity (called positive) acts in the same way as the negative one with which you are already familiar. It attracts scraps of paper, turns the ruler on the egg behind it, raises the coward's hair on end. Remember that the electrotheater is obtained with ordinary glass, although not as well as with organic glass.
What is the difference between positive and negative electricity? The easiest way to understand this is to make two "electric shorts". Put them on the table not far from each other and charge one, say, from a wax stick. He will be "scared", but the hair of the other one, whom you did not charge, will also move. They will reach for the hair of the first panty.
If you rub the wand again and charge the second coward as well, he will also be "scared." Bring together two equally charged cowards. Their hair repels! Exactly the same thing happens with a glass rod. But if one coward is charged from a wax stick, and the other from a glass one, their hair will be attracted.

Artificial leather for touch emulation
15.04.2024
In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>
Petgugu Global cat litter
15.04.2024
Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>
The attractiveness of caring men
14.04.2024
The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>
Random news from the Archive A new type of carbon-based battery
24.05.2014
Japanese company Power Japan Plus has introduced a new type of battery that can be used in cars and other equipment.
The development was called Ryden, or "double carbon battery". The peculiarity of the new battery is that it can charge up to 20 times faster than the currently common lithium-ion batteries. Another significant advantage of the new batteries is that they do not heat up and do not need to be cooled.
The invention may well revolutionize the market for hybrid and electric vehicles due to its characteristics.
According to the developers, the battery they created does not need the use of cobalt, manganese and nickel. It only needs carbon to produce it. This not only makes production cheaper, but also greatly improves the performance of the product. Importantly, end-of-life batteries can be more easily disposed of because they do not contain rare earth elements.
According to the developers, their Power Japan Plus batteries are designed for 3 or more charge / discharge cycles.
