First you need to prepare a place for this experience. A good place would be a doorway, in which, at a certain height, use the buttons to fasten a thin twine horizontally. Hang four pendulums on it: two of the same length and two of different lengths. Make one of the pendulums of different lengths two times shorter than the same pendulums, the other two times longer. Pendulums can be made by tying thin twine to spent batteries from a transistor receiver. Hang our pendulums on a stretched rope at the same distance from each other, and hang pendulums of the same length in the middle.

Pendulum resonance

Reject one of the identical pendulums and release it. He will start to swing. After a while, a pendulum hanging nearby, of the same length, will also begin to swing. The oscillations of the first pendulum were transmitted through the rope to its neighbors, but only one pendulum of the same length responded to these oscillations. About such pendulums, which take over vibrations from each other, they say that they are tuned into resonance. The main condition for resonance is the same length of the pendulums. The rest of the pendulums did not even budge, except that they began to move a little in different directions from the slight vibration of the rope on which they were hanging. But this erratic movement has nothing to do with the harmonic oscillations of pendulums of the same size.

The swing of pendulums can be observed for a long time. It is interesting how one of the pendulums almost stops at times, then swings again under the influence of the neighboring one.

Now, at the longest pendulum, shorten the rope, make it the same length as two identical ones. Three identical pendulums are now hanging. Swing any of them, the other two will also begin to sway. Watch how they alternate between increasing sway and gradually fading out. The fourth pendulum on a short rope will still be indifferent to the swing of its neighbors.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

electric seaplane 13.12.2019

The Canadian company Harbor Air conducted the first flight of an electrified passenger seaplane DHC-2 Beaver.

On December 10, Canadian airline Harbor Air conducted a successful flight of an electric version of the DHC-2 Beaver seaplane on the Fraser River, near Vancouver.

The length of the DHC-2 Beaver is 9,2 meters and has a wingspan of 14,6 m. It can reach speeds of up to 255 kilometers per hour, and the range of the car is up to 732 kilometers. The device was converted into an electric aircraft by the Australian company MagniX, commissioned by Harbor Air: the car received a 200 kilowatt-hour battery and a Magni500 electric motor with a maximum power of 559 kilowatts, weighing 135 kilograms. A full charge of the battery electric DHC-2 Beaver, according to the developers, should be enough for 30 minutes of flight.

Further, after the first flight of the electric DHC-2 Beaver, the specialists will continue to test the machine - first, they will re-check all systems, and then proceed to further flight tests.
