Rest on your haunches

Modern man lives differently than his distant ancestors, and this is often seen as the cause of various chronic diseases - obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, etc. In this case, ancestors are understood to be hunter-gatherers who did not yet know cattle breeding and nothing was grown. And in order to be healthy, you need to eat like your ancestors (that is, adhere to the so-called paleo diet), sleep like your ancestors, move as much as your ancestors.

Employees of the University of Southern California, along with colleagues from other research centers, distributed devices to people from the Hadza people that tracked periods of activity and periods of rest. The Hadza live in Tanzania, hunting and gathering - that is, they lead an "ancestral" way of life, and therefore anthropologists and other researchers often come to them, who are trying to understand how a person has changed since ancient times. It turned out that the period of physical activity in the Hadza is three times longer than recommended by health authorities in the United States. But besides, the Hadza spend 9-10 hours a day at rest - almost as much as an ordinary modern person leading a sedentary lifestyle. However, the Hadza do not have "sedentary" chronic diseases.

Scientists have suggested that the matter is not only in the greater mobility of the Hadza, but also in the fact that their rest is healthier than ordinary sitting. Still, these hunter-gatherers do not sit on sofas or chairs - they either squat or lean on their knees. In both poses - both squatting and leaning on your knees - the muscles of the legs should tighten.

The researchers used additional gadgets that measured the activity of the leg muscles, and it turned out that in a squatting position, the muscles are actually much more active than when a person sits on the buttocks. Perhaps the Hadza are protected from "sedentary" chronic diseases by the fact that even during rest, their muscles - at least some of them - continue to work.

A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. Counterfeit alcohol detector 27.09.2017

English scientists have developed an apparatus that is able to recognize the fakeness of alcohol. The novelty was called SORS. The device is able to detect fake alcohol or not through a closed container.

SORS was invented by scientists at the University of Manchester. The device works on the principle of Ramon spectroscopy. The laser beam penetrates the substance under study and analyzes the changes in the radiation frequency that occur due to the inelastic scattering of light in the molecules. Photons begin to interact very weakly with alcohol atoms. As a result, energy is either lost or gained. The device separates these particles from each other, then their spectrum is studied.

The experiment was carried out on 150 brands of various types of alcoholic beverages and on 40 types of counterfeit ones. During the study, all drinks were sealed in bottles.

During testing, the device was able to identify fake alcohol from the original one, as well as evaluate the alcohol content in it.
