BLE module for the Internet of Things ST Microelectronics SPBTLE-1S

06.08.2018

ST Microelectronics has released the SPBTLE-1S radio module for rapidly building complete battery-powered IoT devices. The module is based on a low-power BlueNRG-1 system-on-a-chip with a Cortex-M0 processor for a user application and a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE 4.2) stack. The radio module can be powered directly from two AAA batteries or any other power source with a voltage of 1,7...3,6 V. The relatively high output power of +5 dBm allows you to create autonomous Bluetooth beacons with an increased range.

The presence of a built-in antenna guarantees optimal matching and completely relieves the engineer from the development of a high-frequency path. The module has passed Bluetooth certification (has BT SIG End Product QDID), which makes it easy to put the Bluetooth logo on the end product.

Using a ready-made radio module significantly reduces the development time and allows you to bring a new product to the market in the shortest possible time. This is facilitated by the BlueNRG SDK software package, which includes the BLE stack itself, a large number of standard and proprietary profiles, as well as ready-made sample applications.

To build a wireless mesh network based on the SPBTLE-1S module, you can use the STSW-BNRG-Mesh (Mesh over Bluetooth Low Energy) protocol stack.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Superluminal UFO 08.02.2012

Something strange is going on in the nearby Cigar Galaxy (aka M82). According to one of the authors of the discovery, British astrophysicist Tom Maxlow from the Astrophysical Center at Jodrel Bank, back in May last year, while observing the explosion of a Supernova (SN2008iz) in this galaxy, scientists, using the MERLIN radio telescope network, discovered that from its central part began receive radio signals unlike anything they have ever been able to detect in space.

The bright spot of radio emission lasted only a few days, then sharply reduced its brightness, but still did not disappear from view and did not change the spectrum. According to scientists, this is unlikely to be a trace of a supernova, since it usually has a different emission spectrum. In addition, the transverse velocity of the source discovered by scientists is four times the speed of light.

However, physicists do not betray this phenomenon and call it an "optical illusion". According to them, this can be observed if a gas jet rushes at them at a small angle, heated by a black hole and accelerated to a sufficiently high speed. Under these conditions, they say, the effects of the theory of relativity come into play, and it seems to us that the object moves with a transverse velocity exceeding the speed of light.

However, the explanation of scientists does not fit into the real picture. Despite the fact that the Cigar Galaxy is similar to ours, there is no black hole at the center of it. All three of its black holes are not in the center, and where the strange signal comes from, there is no black hole. It was assumed that the superluminal effect was caused by a certain microquasar. That would be a good explanation, but there is nothing like a microquasar, they should shine brighter, and besides, microquasars should emit powerful X-rays, which this object does not emit. "So we don't know what it is," says Tom Maxlow.

Galaxy M82 is located in Ursa Major, 12 million light-years from Earth. Like ours, it is a spiral galaxy, but half the size. Its distinguishing feature is the explosive birth of massive stars.
