A unique atlas of the human genome is being created

A group of scientists from Israel intend to create a one-of-a-kind atlas of the human genome using stem cells. Experts assure that the more complete the picture is, the greater the chances of successfully treating people from dangerous diseases.

The Human Genome Atlas, using modern gene editing technology and human embryonic stem cells, which explains the roles that genes play in health and disease, was created by scientists at the Hebrew University. Now, the new study provides a unique tool to map the function of all human genes using human embryonic stem cells.

The researchers analyzed virtually every gene in the human genome, creating over 180 different mutations. A new atlas of the human genome will help doctors quickly find genes that can trigger the development of cancer.
