In order to accurately recreate each person's individual hair with its structure, length, strands, parting and other aspects, Disney specialists proposed a new technique for capturing hair scanned on the head.

The essence of the new method is as follows: the mechanism for recognizing your hairstyle is now based on a complex program that represents the hairline as a closed variety of surfaces. The developed method divides the hair on the head into certain color zones, each of which corresponds to one or another hairstyle parameters in a particular place.

Simply put, when scanning, the program does not simply capture sections of hair and their relief at a given point, but models the hairstyle as a whole, as if you were wearing a helmet on your head. This will make it possible to achieve an incredible similarity of figurines with real prototypes, because before, instead of scanned hairstyles unique for each person, standard and primitive sets of virtual 3D wigs were used.
