GoPro cameras in BMW cars

21.06.2014

Owners of MINI and BMW cars, who like to accompany their trip with video, were pleased with the good news by the management of the German concern. From now on, a number of models from the German automaker that left the assembly line no later than 2012 and are equipped with Radio MINI Visual Boost, MINI navigation system, MINI Professional navigation, as well as special software from BMW for interaction will now receive basic integration into the car system for remote control of the GoPro camera. with iPhone.

Without a smartphone from Apple, which will act as a key link in the "GoPro-multimedia system of the car" link, in this case it will not work. The mobile device with the installed software is first synchronized with the video camera, and then, being connected to the operating system of your car via a USB cable or a proprietary adapter from BMW, it will unlock the full potential of remote camera settings and relaying the image to the on-board display. It is iOS applications - MINI Connected and BMW App that are responsible for connecting to HERO3 + video cameras and more advanced models using a wireless Wi-Fi connection.

A driver with a camera installed on the car will have remote access to options such as turning video recording on and off, switching shooting to different modes and viewing footage directly on the car's built-in display with a BMW / MINI nameplate.

The driver or a nearby passenger will have access to information displayed on the on-board computer about the battery level of the GoPro camera and the amount of free space for recording materials on the memory card.

In addition to the classic modes, such as the usual photo and video recording or a series of shots, the application will also introduce additional options focused purely on motorists: normal driving, night driving, sports mode, winding or ordinary road, etc.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

NASA to pay 18000 euros for two months in bed 03.06.2023

The European Space Agency is conducting a new experience. Participants need to spend two months lying down. For this they will pay 18 thousand euros.

The idea of getting paid to stay in bed for two months may seem too good to be true. But this is exactly what the European Space Agency (ESA) proposes. They conduct an experiment with 12 volunteers who, as part of a new study, are in beds tilted 88 degrees below the horizontal for 6 days with their legs up.

Among the challenges for volunteers are also: eating, showering, toileting, riding special bicycles (located at the bottom of the bed), medical tests - all in the supine position throughout the study. Participants in the experiment will receive 18 euros each.

Everything is simple - for astronauts. ESA hopes that the findings will help explore potential countermeasures to the changes that the human body is undergoing in space. Now 12 male volunteers aged 20-45 are taking part in the study. It runs from April to July 2023. The next one will be held from January to April 2024.

Scientists also believe that the results of the study can also be useful for developing better treatments for the elderly and patients with diseases of the musculoskeletal system and osteoporosis.
