Scientists at the China Air Force University of Engineering have taken the first step towards remote control of metamaterials using human brainwaves in a new study.

Metamaterials are man-made materials that have unusual physical properties, including electromagnetic properties, that do not occur naturally. The two-dimensional analog of metamaterials are metasurfaces, which have unprecedented freedom in controlling electromagnetic waves. According to scientists, it is possible to create programmable metasurfaces with different functions that can be controlled remotely using the human mind.

It is well known that the human brain creates brain waves in the process of thinking. Scientists have suggested that with the help of brain waves, which can be used as signals, you can control and control your metasurface mind.

During the study, Chinese scientists managed to achieve remote control of the metasurface through the transmission of human brain waves to a special receiver. Scientists wanted to make sure that a person can control the electromagnetic reaction of a programmable metasurface. And they were able to achieve this by demonstrating user control of the metasurface electromagnetic wave dispersion mode.

The results of the experiment showed that with the help of brain waves, a person more effectively controlled the functions of the metasurface at a distance than with the help of devices manually. Now, scientists plan to continue to conduct similar experiments in order to improve the quality of control over the metasurface with the help of the human mind.

Scientists believe that mind control at a distance can really be applied to various metasurfaces, including this method of control and management can be applied to monitor the state of human health, to transmit data in 5G and 6G communication generations and other areas.
