ENCYCLOPEDIA OF RADIO ELECTRONICS AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING Overview of Delta-2 antennas. Encyclopedia of radio electronics and electrical engineering Encyclopedia of radio electronics and electrical engineering / Television antennas Continuing the review on antennas of the type Delta, which was launched earlier on the basis of the questions and explanations received, in particular, attention will be paid to antennas for the multi-band version and located at a low suspension height, as well as devices for their coordination with the cable industry with standard coaxial cables commonly used by radio amateurs such as RK50 and RK75. On fig. 1 shows the Delta antenna the upper edge of which is at a height of only 17 meters.
To match the antenna and obtain its multi-range, a matching ladder 10,3 meters long and 10 cm wide was used, the material from which the antenna and the ladder were made - copper wire with a diameter of 1,5 - 2,0 mm. To match ladder with RK50 cable applied cable balun RK75 having - 10 turns of cable arranged turn to turn with a diameter of - 20 cm, the total length of the cable segment is - 6,95 m. The antenna works fine on the ranges of 80-40 meters. When recalculating, it can work with such a matching system on other ranges. On fig. 2 shows the antenna "Delta" which is matched with the RK50 coaxial cable using a matching transformer with a ratio of input and output impedances of 1:4.
The number of turns of this transformer is 7 turns of each of the windings, the tap is made from the middle. The connection diagram of the windings is shown in Fig.2. The antenna is suspended at a height of 18,3 meters. The antenna shown in fig. 3 is located horizontally on the ground and has the shape of a square with equal sides.
This antenna is characterized by a low suspension height, which allows it to be used where it is not possible to suspend antennas not vertically and not at an angle. Due to the low height of the suspension, the input impedance of the antenna has a different resistance on the ranges, which makes it difficult to use it as one antenna in a multi-band version, but for each range the antenna made and matched according to the proposed scheme works fine, but it naturally has all the disadvantages of low-lying antennas . Table 1 The table below shows the dimensions of the sides of the antenna. according to the ranges and length of the matching piece of cable RK75 Ohm The antenna fabric can be made of copper wire with a diameter of 1,5-2 mm.
