The proposed supergenerator differs from conventional quartz oscillators by using instead of one or two identical quartz resonators connected in parallel. This inclusion allows you to adjust the frequency of the generator in a much wider range than single-crystal circuits. So, according to my experiments for resonators at a frequency of 10,15 MHz, this range is about 40 kHz, and for 13 MHz quartz - about 90 kHz (!).

Quartz Super Oscillator (Super VXO)

The oscillator circuit was proposed by JA0AS (Mr. Shimizu) and JH1FCZ (Mr. Okubo) and named "Super VXO" by them. The first article about this generator was published in Japan in August 1980 in the magazine "Fancy Crazy Zippy" (N 64). Then this circuit was described in the book "Textbook for Homebrewing of Electronic Circuits" by JH1FCZ..

Here are the results of my experiments:

1. Two quartz crystals at a frequency of 10.15 MHz, a 15 μH inductor, a 20 pF variable capacitor. With these parameters, the generator worked in the range of 10.10 - 10.14 MHz. With such a generator, I made a direct conversion receiver for a range of 30 m. The frequency is very stable. A 2SC1815 transistor with an upper cutoff frequency of 80 MHz was used.

2. Two quartz crystals at a frequency of 13 MHz, an inductor VXO-50 (7 ... 11 μH), a 30 pF variable capacitor. The resulting tuning range is 12.91...13.00 MHz. The transistor is the same. The VXO-50 coil is proprietary, designed specifically for the VXO at 6 meters and has a small temperature coefficient.

I also used this generator in a QRP transmitter for 6 m. At a quartz frequency of 11.2735 MHz and after tripling, it covered the range of 50.00 - 50.27 MHz (270 kHz!).

The frequency range of tuning of the specified generator can be wider, but its stability becomes worse with increasing inductance. JH1FCZ recommends in his book to keep the frequency change within 0.5% of the rated frequency, i.e. for 10 MHz it is 50 kHz.

I have tried inductors of various designs, and as practice has shown, larger coils work better. When tuning the frequency, sudden frequency dips are possible, this can be eliminated by connecting in parallel the inductance of a resistor with a resistance of 10-30 kΩ.

Frequency stability depends largely on the temperature coefficient of the inductor core material used. Therefore, it is better to use coils without a core.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Superfast Internet from Google 04.08.2012

Google launched the Fiber TV service and provided ultra-high-speed Internet access for residents of Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri. Two cities have become winners in a two-year Google competition.

There are three unlimited tariff plans for users: Gigabit + TV, Gigabit Internet and Free Internet. Buyers of the first offer will receive for $120 per month: Internet access at a speed of 973 Mbps, connection to the Google Fiber TV service (more than 160 channels), an external hard drive with a capacity of 2 TB, 1 TB for storing video files in the Google cloud service Drive, network adapter, set-top box, and a Nexus 7 tablet as a remote control.

Users who don't want to watch TV can opt for a second plan for $70 a month and get 973 Mbps Internet access, 1 TB of Google Drive, and a network adapter.

Users who choose Free Internet are offered a real trifle - unlimited Internet for a period of at least seven years at a speed of 5 Mbps (outgoing channel - 1 Mbps). The $300 payment, however, is due within the first year. For the first two tariff plans, a mandatory contract is concluded for two years.
