Sooner or later, the owners of YOSANs, ALANs, and other foreign-made radio stations have problems with a microphone headset. The radio station "hangs" when switching from reception to transmission, the channel switching buttons are junk, the microphone "crunches", etc. But since a new branded headset, most likely, will not even be offered, and repairing the old one will cost a pretty penny at best , then it remains to do it yourself.

On fig. 1 shows a diagram of the microphone headset of the YOSAN-2204 radio station (pin numbering - according to the microphone connector). Note that in the manufacture of the PTT there is no need to strictly follow the ratings indicated here. Moreover, those of them are marked with an asterisk, which, most likely, will even have to be changed. This applies primarily to the capacitor C1. To improve speech intelligibility, a capacitor C1 with a capacity of 1000 ... 2000 pF is often installed. The voltage across the electret microphone depends on the resistance of the resistor R1. If a different microphone is used, this voltage may need to be changed.

Switch "reception-transmission" SB1 - PKn61 without fixation. SB2 and SB3 - buttons for switching the working channel "up" and "down" - work on a circuit and have a pusher 10 mm long. Electret microphone BM1 - type CZN-15E (from a "Chinese" handset). All resistors - MLT-0,125. Capacitors C1 and C3 - KM-6, C2 - K50-40.

All elements of the microphone headset are installed on a printed circuit board (Fig. 2), made of double-sided foil fiberglass 1,5 mm thick. The foil under the parts is used only as a common wire. In places where the conductors are passed, samples are made in it - circles with a diameter of 1,5 ... 2 mm (not shown in Fig. 2). Foil connections are shown as black squares, and "ground" jumper wire positions are shown as black squares with a light dot in the center.

The mounted board is installed on the front panel of the tangent - a plate with dimensions of 37x73 mm, made of high-impact polystyrene 2 mm thick. Polystyrene racks 2,1 ... 9,5 mm high with metal inserts pressed into them with a thread for the M10 screw are glued to the plate in the appropriate places (see the position on the board of holes with a diameter of 2 mm). The glue is made from the same polystyrene, dissolving small pieces of it in solvent 647. This high-strength connection with almost invisible seams allows you to assemble a well-looking PTT body.

At the free end of the panel (it is 11 mm longer than the board), in one way or another, a five-core shielded cord 1 ... 1,5 m long is fixed. shielded wire of a suitable diameter, and then all this is dragged into a PVC tube. In the front panel, the tangents make holes for the free passage of the pushers of the SB2 and SB3 buttons and a hole in front of the microphone with a diameter of 3 ... 4 mm.

The case-cover of the tangent in the form of an open box is glued from the same high-impact polystyrene 2 mm thick. According to its inner contour, a groove is selected into which the front panel will be inserted. In places where the SB1 switch button and the cord are skipped, appropriate cutouts are made in the case. All elements of the PTT (body-cover and front panel with the board) are fastened together with an M2 screw with a countersunk head (an M2 threaded hole in the board is for it). Dimensions of the tangent - 76x40x17 mm.

Any electret microphone with a sufficiently high sensitivity is suitable for the YOSAN-2204 radio station. But not every microphone satisfies this requirement, of the domestic ones, perhaps, only "Pine". This limitation can be easily removed if the electret microphone signal is pre-amplified.

On fig. 3 shows a diagram of a microphone headset for the YOSAN-2204 radio station with a built-in amplifier. The DA1 chip is a micropower operational amplifier, which is powered by the radio supply voltage. Its gain is determined by the feedback elements: resistors R5-R7, capacitors C4 and C5. Resistor R9 sets the desired output level.

The tuning resistor R9 is used of the SP3-38b type, the remaining elements are the same as in the previous design. The printed circuit board of the PTT is shown in fig. 4.

To control the output signal level control, a hole with a diameter of 3 ... 3,5 mm is made in the front panel of the PTT.

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The threat of space debris to the Earth's magnetic field 01.05.2024

More and more often we hear about an increase in the amount of space debris surrounding our planet. However, it is not only active satellites and spacecraft that contribute to this problem, but also debris from old missions. The growing number of satellites launched by companies like SpaceX creates not only opportunities for the development of the Internet, but also serious threats to space security. Experts are now turning their attention to the potential implications for the Earth's magnetic field. Dr. Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics emphasizes that companies are rapidly deploying satellite constellations, and the number of satellites could grow to 100 in the next decade. The rapid development of these cosmic armadas of satellites can lead to contamination of the Earth's plasma environment with dangerous debris and a threat to the stability of the magnetosphere. Metal debris from used rockets can disrupt the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Both of these systems play a key role in protecting the atmosphere and maintaining ... >>

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

15000 RPM Enterprise Hard Drives from HGST 07.03.2014

HGST (formerly Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, now a subsidiary of Western Digital) has launched a new family of high-capacity 2,5-inch 15k rpm enterprise hard drives, the Ultrastar C15K600. The innovations provide high performance and capacity in a small size and low operating temperature, thus providing increased information density while reducing support costs and total cost of ownership. This was reported to CNews in HGST.

The high speed of hard drives, according to HGST, was achieved, among other things, thanks to media caching technology that uses algorithmic processing of input data to optimize the recording process, which is much faster than non-volatile caching on NAND or flash memory. As a result, the speed of access to a random sector is 2 times higher than 2,5-inch competitors and 2,5 times faster than 3,5-inch ones, the spindle speed of which is 15 thousand rpm. What's more, the Ultrastar C15K600 is equipped with a fast 12Gb/s SAS interface and a fast 128MB cache to ensure stable system performance, according to the company.

The Ultrastar C15K600 has twice the capacity of today's 2,5" 15K RPM hard drives and matches that of 3,5" 15K RPM hard drives. "The 600GB capacity makes it easy for any business to migrate from 3,5" drives to 2,5" HDD platforms and experience the difference in performance and power consumption," HGST said. With a 2,5-inch Small Form Factor (SFF) and Advanced Power Management technology, the C15K600 delivers up to 55% lower power consumption during operation and up to 54% during idle compared to the latest 3,5-inch drives, according to the company. with 15 thousand rpm from HGST.

At the same time, Ultrastar C15K600 SAS drives offer a wide range of encryption and security options, such as Instant Secure Erase (ISE) technology and SSC-compatible Self-Encrypting Drives (SED) technology from the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), certified according to FIPS (Federal Information Processing Standard) 140-2, ur. 2.

The Ultrastar C15K600 has an MTBF of 2 million hours and an annual failure rate of less than 0,44%. With many customers running both modern and legacy systems, the Ultrastar C15K600 line of drives will be available in both 4K Advanced, 512e and 512n formats, the company said.

In addition to the Ultrastar C15K600 line, HGST announced Ultrastar Enterprise SSDs with 12Gb/s SAS, also certified to FIPS 140-2, ur. 2. As explained by HGST, these drives have been designed for the most demanding applications such as high-speed trading, online banking, cloud computing, and big data analysis. FIPS 140-2 is an IT security standard used by government organizations and regulated industries such as healthcare or financial institutions that store and share sensitive but not classified information.
