Stereo FM 88...108 MHz receiver based on CXA1238S chip

Receiver specifications on CXA1238S:

  • Operating frequency range 88...108Mhz
  • Current consumption 16mA
  • Supply voltage 2-6V

The design does not contain time-consuming IF filter coils with a frequency of 10,7 mHz and is assembled on an inexpensive universal microcircuit. The chip's built-in stereo decoder works with time division, using a PLL to synchronize with the pilot tone. VCO tuning is carried out by resistor R17. The signals of the left and right stereo channels are generated at pins 6 and 5 of U1, respectively. Chains R5 c8 and R6 C9 serve to compensate for the pre-distortion of the audio signal input on the transmitting side to improve the signal-to-noise ratio.

In the receiver, you can use resistors of any type with a tolerance of at least ± 20%, oxide capacitors are better than small-sized imported ones, the rest are ceramic capacitors. The proposed receiver is not critical either to the types or to the ratings of its constituent elements. Piezoceramic filters are any broadband, small-sized, used in all receivers with the VHF range. The appearance of the U2 U3 Filters is shown in the figure. The middle terminal is connected to a common wire, the rest - no difference. The U4 filter is similar to the previous ones, but has two leads and is colored light brown. Transistor Q1 - KT368A, KT368B, KT3102 with letter indices from A to E. Transistor Q2 - KT368A, KT368B, KT339 or KT399 with any letter indices. The inductance of the inductor L1 can be in the range from 22 to 220mkH (I set it to 100mkH). Coils L2, L4 and L5 are frameless with an inner diameter of 3mm. Coil L2 has 8 turns tapped from the middle (for easy installation I wound two coils of 4 turns each). Coil L4 contains 6 turns, L5 - 5 turns. The exact number of turns depends on the length and location of the tracks leading to the coils on the PCB and is specified during setup.

The variable resistor R21 is multi-turn, it tunes the receiver to the radio station. The transistor housings are connected to a common wire. The dimensions of the printed circuit board are 52X46mm. Resistor R8 and capacitor C21 are soldered on the side of the printed conductors. The receiver is connected to the antenna with a shielded wire. Near the antenna, the screen breaks, and the "hot" core is connected to the antenna.

During setup, connect the receiver to some kind of amplifier. If its installation is carried out without errors, when the power source is turned on, a characteristic noise should appear in the speakers. By stretching and compressing the turns of the L5 heterodyne coil, achieve a stable reception of any radio station. If this fails, try changing the number of turns of the heterodyne coil. A constantly working automatic frequency control (AFC) will let you know that you have tuned in to the mirror channel - the setting will be "floating", fuzzy. In this case, stretch the turns of the L5 coil or reduce the number of its turns until the same station appears with a clear tuning.

After you set up the receiver, fill the coils with paraffin - use a paraffin candle for this. In this case, the frequency range will shift slightly, but the coils will be protected from external mechanical influences.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Corn that does not require cooking 19.05.2023

A new variety of corn has been developed that can be eaten without cooking. This was succeeded by breeders from Vietnam. Corn has a high water content and low starch content.

In addition, the new sweet corn variety SSW18 has a pleasant fresh fruit flavor, high yield and disease resistance. It was created at the Institute of Plant Research and Development of the Vietnam National University of Agriculture. We worked on the project for eight years, soon corn will appear on the markets.

Compared to regular corn with a sweetness level of 12-15 degrees Brix, the sweetness in Vietnamese corn is 18 degrees.

Despite the high sugar content, its effect is different from that of glucose or sucrose. This means that people with diabetes or a diet can safely eat this corn.

SSW18 was created by selection without genetic changes. Due to the low starch content, this corn can not be boiled, the taste will still be preserved.

While the variety is grown in areas with a cooler climate. It takes 70-80 days to grow, then the corn is harvested.
