7.10.3. Plants for electrolysis and galvanic coatings - complexes consisting of one or more baths (respectively, electrolysis - electrolyzers or galvanic) and of the rectifying units required for the implementation of the working process in them (see 7.10.4), other general-purpose electrical equipment and special, complete devices and auxiliary mechanisms, main, inter-bath and other current conductors, cable lines and electrical wiring (including auxiliary circuit wiring: control, alarm, measurement, protection systems), as well as crane and ventilation equipment and gas treatment facilities.

7.10.4. The rectifier unit is a unit operating on the principle of a voltage source (APS), consisting of a converter transformer and semiconductor rectifiers.

Parametric rectifier unit - a unit operating on the principle of a current source (PIT), based on the use of resonant circuits and consists of a converter transformer with separate HV windings, three reactors, three capacitor banks and semiconductor rectifiers.

Semiconductor rectifier - a set of semiconductor valves mounted on a frame or in a cabinet (on frames or in cabinets) with an air or water cooling system.

Converter substation of electrolysis plants - a complex consisting of located inside the premises (or several premises, or inside a separate building) rectifier units (APS or PIT) and the equipment, devices, systems, etc. required for their operation (see 7.10.3), at the same time, converter transformers can be located outside the building (when environmental conditions allow it) in an open space or under a canopy in the design for outdoor installation, and in case of power supply units, also reactors and capacitor banks.

It is allowed to make converting substations in which cabinets (frames) of semiconductor rectifiers are mounted on the walls of the converting transformer tank.

7.10.5. An electrolysis bath or an electrolyzer is a special electrotechnological equipment consisting of a system of positive and negative electrodes immersed in a vessel filled with electrolyte (or placed in membrane or diaphragm type cells assembled into a single block apparatus), designed to perform a combination of electrochemical oxidation-reduction processes at passing an electric current through the electrolyte.

The electroplating bath is structurally similar to the electrolysis bath with an electrolyte in the form of aqueous solutions and differs mainly only in the composition of electrolytes and modes of operation, determined by its purpose - the type of electroplating performed.

A series of electrolysis cells (electrolyzers) is a group of electrically connected electrolysis cells (electrolyzers) connected in series to a converter substation (rectifying unit).

7.10.6. Electrolysis Hall1) - a production facility that houses single electrolysis baths (electrolyzers), their series, several series or part of a series.

Housing, station or electrolysis shop - an industrial building in which the hall or halls of electrolysis and rooms with equipment necessary for the implementation of the technological process and the implementation of safety and labor protection requirements are located.

1. The terms "electrolysis hall", "station" are not used in aluminum electrolysis installations, in these installations the term "electrolysis building" is used - an industrial building in which a series (part of a series) or series of electrolyzers are installed.

7.10.7. Electroplating shop (section, department) - a room or part of a room with galvanic coating installations and electrical and other equipment necessary to carry out the electrotechnological process, taking into account the requirements of safety and labor protection.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Trains instead of planes 30.01.2020

Europeans are increasingly opting for rail transport over air travel because they are ashamed of the damage that airplanes do to the environment.

In Europe, the movement to protect the environment is rapidly gaining popularity, symbolized by the Swedish schoolgirl Greta Thunberg. Environmental activists, in particular, are promoting a phenomenon called Flight Shaming - its supporters are calling for shame on those who fly planes and thereby allegedly harm the planet. Apparently, Europeans are really becoming ashamed of flying: in Sweden and Germany, the number of air travel has fallen for the first time in ten years.

Swedish airports in 2019 received 4% fewer passengers than in 2018, and airlines carried 2% fewer people (on domestic flights - 9% less). German airlines delivered 0,4% fewer passengers, while domestic traffic fell by 2%. Supporters of flight shaming are calling for the use of trains instead of planes, and apparently this is working: in Europe, there is an increase in passenger traffic on railway lines.

The German Deutsche Bahn in 2019 transported a record number of passengers on long-distance trains - about 150 million people per year. Due to the increase in traffic, Europe's rail networks may face problems with outdated infrastructure. For example, 33 thousand kilometers of German railways are overloaded, which is why every fourth train arrived late in 2019. In the UK, the situation is even worse - every third train is late and the carriages are often overcrowded.
