7.6.1. This chapter of the Rules applies to stationary, portable and mobile electric welding installations (ESW) equipped and used indoors or outdoors, designed to perform electrotechnological processes of welding, surfacing, spraying, fusion cutting (separation and surface) and welding using pressure, including:

arc and plasma welding, surfacing, remelting, spraying, cutting;
electroslag welding, electroslag and plasma-arc remelting;
induction welding and surfacing;
electron beam welding;
laser welding and cutting;
contact heating welding;
contact or diffusion welding;
arc contact welding (with heating to a plastic state of the ends of the product to be welded by an excited arc rotating in a magnetic field, followed by contact connection by pressure).

The requirements of this chapter apply to electric welding installations when using consumable or non-consumable electrodes in them, when processing (joining, cutting, etc.) metallic or non-metallic materials in air or gas (argon, helium, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, etc.) atmospheric, elevated or reduced pressures (including in vacuum), as well as under water or under a layer of flux.

7.6.2. Electric welding installations must meet the requirements of Sec. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ch. 7.3, 7.4, 7.5 of the Rules to the extent that they are not changed by this chapter.
