6.1.21. Emergency lighting is divided into safety lighting and evacuation lighting.

The safety lighting is designed to continue working in the event of an emergency shutdown of the work lighting.

Work lighting fixtures and safety lighting fixtures in industrial and public buildings and in open spaces must be powered from independent sources.

6.1.22. Lamps and light indicators of evacuation lighting in industrial buildings with natural lighting and in public and residential buildings must be connected to a network that is not connected to the working lighting network, starting from the substation switchboard (lighting distribution point) or, if there is only one input, starting from input switchgear.

6.1.23. The power supply of lamps and light indicators for evacuation lighting in industrial buildings without natural lighting should be carried out similarly to the power supply of safety lighting lamps (clause 6.1.21.).

In industrial buildings without natural light in rooms where 20 or more people can be at the same time, regardless of the presence of safety lighting, evacuation lighting along the main aisles and "exit" light indicators should be provided, which automatically switch when their power is cut off to a third independent external or local source (accumulator battery, diesel generator set, etc.) not normally used to power working lighting, safety lighting and evacuation lighting, or evacuation lighting fixtures and "exit" signs must have an independent power source.

6.1.24. When assigning all or part of the safety lighting fixtures and evacuation lighting to a special group of the first category in terms of power supply reliability, it is necessary to provide additional power for these fixtures from a third independent source.

6.1.25. Emergency lighting fixtures, light indicators of evacuation and (or) emergency exits in buildings of any purpose, equipped with autonomous power sources, in normal mode can be powered by networks of any type of lighting that are not switched off during the operation of buildings.

6.1.26. For premises in which people are constantly occupied or which are intended for the constant passage of personnel or unauthorized persons and in which safety lighting or evacuation lighting is required, it must be possible to switch on these types of lighting during the entire time when the working lighting or safety lighting is on and evacuation lighting should turn on automatically when the emergency lighting goes out.

6.1.27. Application for working lighting, safety lighting and (or) evacuation lighting of common group panels, as well as installation of control devices for working lighting, safety lighting and (or) evacuation lighting, with the exception of auxiliary circuit devices (for example, signal lamps, control keys), in general cabinets are not allowed.

It is allowed to power the safety lighting and evacuation lighting from common shields.

6.1.28. The use of networks supplying power electrical receivers to power security lighting and evacuation lighting in industrial buildings without natural lighting is not allowed.

6.1.29. It is allowed to use hand-held lighting devices with batteries or dry cells for security lighting and evacuation lighting instead of stationary lighting fixtures (buildings and premises without permanent human presence, buildings with a built-up area of not more than 250 m2).

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

Optical fiber from food agar 04.08.2020

The new optical fiber is made from edible agar material by scientists from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP, Brazil). This device is biocompatible and biodegradable. It can be injected into the body, for example, for the "delivery" of light in phototherapy and optogenetics (for example, to stimulate neurons with light to study neural circuits in the living brain), as well as for targeted drug delivery to the body.

It is also possible to detect microorganisms in specific organs using this optical fiber. After the biodegradable fiber probe has done its job, it will simply disintegrate inside the body without harm to health.

Agar, or agar-agar, is a natural gelatin derived from seaweed. Its composition consists of a mixture of two polysaccharides: agarose and agaropectin. Optical fiber based on it is an agar cylinder with a diameter of 2,5 mm. Inside it are six cylindrical hollow "tubes" around a solid core. Light passes through the difference between the refractive indices of the agar core and the air holes.

To get the fiber, the scientists poured food agar into a prepared mold. The gel spread out to fill the available space. After cooling, the rods were removed to form air holes and the solidified fiber was removed from the mould. The refractive index and fiber geometry can be adapted by varying the composition of the agar and the shape of the fiber.

The researchers tested how the fiber performs in a variety of environments, from air and water to ethanol and acetone, and concluded that it adapts to the environment. The gel structure changes in response to changes in temperature, humidity and pH levels.
