5.6.26. The design of the condensing unit must comply with the environmental conditions.

5.6.27. Condensing units with a total oil mass of more than 600 kg each must be located in a separate room that meets the fire resistance requirements given in 4.2.76, with access to the outside or to a common room.

Capacitor units with a total oil mass of up to 600 kg each, as well as capacitor units consisting of capacitors with non-combustible liquid, can be located in switchgear rooms up to 1 kV and higher or in the main and auxiliary premises of industries classified as fire-fighting categories D and D. requirements of SNiP Gosstroy of Russia.

5.6.28. When a capacitor unit is located indoors above 1 kV with a total oil mass of more than 600 kg, an oil receiver must be arranged under the unit, designed for 20% of the total mass of oil in all capacitors and made in accordance with the requirements given in 4.2.101. When located outdoors, the arrangement of oil receivers under the condensers is not required.

5.6.29. Condensing units located in a common room must have mesh fences or protective covers. Devices should also be made to prevent the spreading of synthetic fluid through cable channels and the floor of the room in case of leakage of the capacitor housings and to ensure the removal of liquid vapor from the room.

5.6.30. The distance between individual capacitors must be at least 50 mm and must be selected according to the conditions for cooling the capacitors and ensuring insulation distances.

5.6.31. The blown indicators of the external capacitor fuses must be accessible for inspection during battery operation.

5.6.32. The temperature of the air surrounding the condensers should not exceed the upper and lower limits established by GOST or the technical specifications for the condensers of the corresponding type.

The room or cabinets of the capacitor plant must have a separate natural ventilation system; if it does not provide a decrease in the air temperature in the room to the highest permissible, it is necessary to use artificial ventilation.

5.6.33. For condensers installed outdoors, the presence of solar radiation must be taken into account. Outdoor condensers are recommended to be installed so that the negative impact of solar radiation on them is minimal.

5.6.34. Connecting the terminals of the capacitors to each other and connecting them to the busbars must be carried out with flexible jumpers.

5.6.35. The structures on which the capacitors are installed must be made of non-combustible materials. When choosing a method for fixing capacitors, it is necessary to take into account the thermal expansion of the capacitor case.

5.6.36. For outdoor installation, distances from oil-filled condensers to other equipment, as well as fire-prevention distances from them to buildings and structures, should be taken according to 4.2.67 and 4.2.68.

5.6.37. When installed outdoors, oil-filled capacitors must be installed in accordance with fire safety requirements in groups with a capacity of not more than 30 Mvar each. The clear distance between groups of one capacitor unit must be at least 4 m, and between groups of different capacitor units - at least 6 m.

5.6.38. In the same room with capacitors, it is allowed to install discharge resistors related to them, disconnectors, load switches, low-volume switches and instrument transformers.

5.6.39. When dividing the capacitor bank into parts, it is recommended to arrange them in such a way that it is safe to work on each of the parts with the others turned on.

5.6.40. The capacitor unit shall be provided with devices for grounding of load-bearing metal structures that may be energized during operation of the unit.

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>
