4.2.122. The requirements given in 4.2.123 - 4.2.132 reflect the features of transformer substations for outdoor installation of complete (KTP), pole (STP), mast (MTP) with high voltage up to 35 kV and low voltage up to 1 kV, as well as network sectioning points (SSP) with voltage up to 35 kV.

In all other respects not specified in 4.2.123 - 4.2.132, the requirements of other paragraphs of this chapter should be followed.

4.2.123. The connection of the transformer to the higher voltage network must be carried out using fuses and a disconnector (load switch) or a combined fuse-disconnector with a visible open circuit.

The switching device must be controlled from the ground. The drive of the switching device must be padlockable. The switching device must have earthing switches on the side of the transformer.

4.2.124. The switching device MTP and STP, as a rule, should be installed on the terminal (or branch) support of the overhead line.

The switching device of KTP and SSP can be installed both on the terminal (branch) support of the overhead line, and inside the KTP and SSP.

4.2.125. At substations and SSPs without fencing, the vertical distance from the ground surface to non-insulated current-carrying parts in the absence of traffic under the terminals should be at least 3,5 m for voltages up to 1 kV, and for voltages of 10 (6) and 35 kV - according to Table. 4.2.7 'E' dimension.

At substations and SSPs with a fence at least 1,8 m high, the indicated distances to uninsulated current-carrying parts with a voltage of 10 (6) and 35 kV can be reduced to the size 'G' specified in Table. 4.2.5. At the same time, in the plane of the fence, the distance from the busbar to the edge of the outer fence must be at least the size 'D' indicated in the same table.

For air inlets crossing passages or places where traffic is possible, the distance from the lower wire to the ground should be taken in accordance with 2.5.111 and 2.5.112.

4.2.126. To service the MTP at a height of at least 3 m, a platform with railings should be arranged. For climbing to the site, it is recommended to use ladders with a device that prohibits climbing on it when the switching device is turned on.

For STP, the device of platforms and stairs is not necessary.

4.2.127. Parts of the MTP that remain energized when the switching device is turned off must be out of reach (1.7.70) from the site level. The disabled position of the apparatus must be visible from the platform.

4.2.128. On the low voltage side of the transformer, it is recommended to install a device that provides a visible break.

4.2.129. The wiring in the MTP and STP between the transformer and the low-voltage switchboard, as well as between the switchboard and the low-voltage overhead line, must be protected from mechanical damage and carried out in accordance with the requirements given in Ch. 2.1.

4.2.130. For substations with a capacity of 0,25 MVA and less, lighting of the low-voltage shield is not allowed. Lighting and sockets for turning on portable devices, tools at substations with a capacity of more than 0,25 MVA must be powered by a voltage not exceeding 25 V.

4.2.131. According to the condition of fire safety, substations should be located at a distance of at least 3 m from buildings of I, II, III degrees of fire resistance and 5 m from buildings of IV and V degrees of fire resistance.

It is also necessary to be guided by the requirements given in 4.2.68.

The distance from residential buildings to transformer substations should be taken at least 10 m, provided that acceptable normal levels of sound pressure (noise) are ensured.

4.2.132. In places of possible collision with vehicles, substations should be protected by bollards.

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

Solar panel on glass 24.10.2006

German scientists are going to make cheap solar cells by growing silicon on glass.

Scientists from the Institute for Crystal Growth (Germany), led by Dr. Thorsten Boeck, together with the company "BP Solar" have begun a three-year project to grow thin films of polycrystalline silicon with large grains on glass.

The essence of the idea is this. Now substrates for solar cells are made by cutting single crystals of silicon into wafers 0,45 mm thick. A photon penetrates the solar battery to a depth of only 0,02 mm.

It turns out that a huge amount of ultra-pure silicon is wasted: a thin single-crystal film would do the job of converting light into electricity no worse than a thick plate. Accordingly, the price would be much lower. Alas, thin silicon films do not grow as single crystals. On the contrary, they consist of small grains, which significantly reduces the efficiency of the battery.

To increase the size of silicon grains grown on a glass (silicon oxide!) plate, German scientists proposed a two-stage process. First, they create a grid of silicon nuclei on the glass surface with a step of 0 mm. Then these embryos are turned into full-fledged grains.

The result is a continuous polycrystalline pure silicon film 0,05 mm thick. It should also serve as the basis for cheap solar panels.
