1.8.30. Capacitors for increasing the power factor with voltages below 1 kV are tested according to paragraphs 1, 4, 5; capacitors for increasing power factor with voltages of 1 kV and higher are tested according to paragraphs 1, 2, 4, 5; coupling capacitors, power take-off and dividing capacitors are tested according to paragraphs 1-4; capacitors for overvoltage protection and longitudinal compensation capacitors are tested according to paragraphs 1, 2, 4, 5.

1. Measurement of insulation resistance.

Produced with a megohmmeter for a voltage of 2,5 kV. Insulation resistance between terminals and relative to the capacitor body.

2. Capacitance measurement.

Produced at a temperature of 15-35 ºС. The measured capacity must correspond to the passport data, taking into account the measurement error and the tolerances given in Table 1.8.27.

3. Measurement of the dielectric loss tangent.

The measurement is made on coupling capacitors, power take-off capacitors and voltage divider capacitors.

The measured value of tg δ should not exceed 0,3% (at a temperature of 20 ºС).

4. High voltage test.

The insulation relative to the housing is tested with the capacitor leads shorted.

The value and duration of application of the test voltage is regulated by factory instructions.

Power frequency test voltages for various capacitors are given below:

Capacitors for improving power factor with rated voltage, kV Test voltage, kV
0,22 2,1
0,38 2,1
0,5 2,1
1,05 4,3
3,15 15,8
6,3 22,3
10,5 30,0
Capacitors for surge protection type
SMM-20/3-0,107 22,5
KM2-10,5-24 22,5-25,0

Power frequency voltage tests may be replaced by a one-minute rectified voltage test at twice the specified test voltages.

5. Testing of the capacitor bank by switching it on three times.

It is carried out by switching on at the rated voltage with control of current values for each phase. Currents in different phases should differ from each other by no more than 5%.

Table 1.8.27. Allowable change in capacitance of the capacitor

Name Permissible change in the measured capacitance of the capacitor relative to the nameplate value, %
Power take-off coupling and dividing capacitors ±5
Capacitors for power factor improvement and capacitors used for surge protection ±5
Series Capacitors + 5 -10

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

Controlling objects using air currents 04.05.2024

The development of robotics continues to open up new prospects for us in the field of automation and control of various objects. Recently, Finnish scientists presented an innovative approach to controlling humanoid robots using air currents. This method promises to revolutionize the way objects are manipulated and open new horizons in the field of robotics. The idea of controlling objects using air currents is not new, but until recently, implementing such concepts remained a challenge. Finnish researchers have developed an innovative method that allows robots to manipulate objects using special air jets as "air fingers". The air flow control algorithm, developed by a team of specialists, is based on a thorough study of the movement of objects in the air flow. The air jet control system, carried out using special motors, allows you to direct objects without resorting to physical ... >>

Purebred dogs get sick no more often than purebred dogs 03.05.2024

Caring for the health of our pets is an important aspect of the life of every dog owner. However, there is a common assumption that purebred dogs are more susceptible to diseases compared to mixed dogs. New research led by researchers at the Texas School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences brings new perspective to this question. A study conducted by the Dog Aging Project (DAP) of more than 27 companion dogs found that purebred and mixed dogs were generally equally likely to experience various diseases. Although some breeds may be more susceptible to certain diseases, the overall diagnosis rate is virtually the same between both groups. The Dog Aging Project's chief veterinarian, Dr. Keith Creevy, notes that there are several well-known diseases that are more common in certain breeds of dogs, which supports the notion that purebred dogs are more susceptible to disease. ... >>

iPad is 5 degrees hotter 29.03.2012

Owners of the new iPad can say without exaggeration that their device has the most advanced screen on the tablet market and the most powerful graphics, but these innovations, unfortunately, have had a negative impact on other characteristics of the device: it has become heavier and larger, and a new study , conducted in Holland, suggests that another sacrifice in favor of innovation was increased heat transfer, an average of 5 degrees.

With a graphics load in the OpenGL test, the 2011 Apple tablet reaches 5 degrees after 28,3 minutes, while the new one reaches 33,6 degrees. It is worth noting that if both devices are in this mode lying on your knees or on open skin, it will not be very pleasant to hold them.

The hottest spot in both iPad models was the lower right corner, where the processor is located. The A5 in the iPad 2 comes with PowerVR SGX543MP2 graphics, while the A5X in Apple's new tablet comes with the SGX543MP4.

It is worth noting that both tablets have a special sensor that protects the device from overheating. If a certain temperature threshold is reached, the iPad will turn off. Apple says that the iPad can be used safely in temperatures up to 35 degrees.
