1.4.9. In electrical installations up to 1 kV and above, when determining short-circuit currents, for selecting devices and conductors and determining the impact on supporting structures, one should proceed from the following:

1. All sources involved in the supply of the short circuit point under consideration operate simultaneously with the rated load.

2. All synchronous machines have automatic voltage regulators and excitation forcing devices.

3. A short circuit occurs at a point in time at which the short circuit current will have the greatest value.

4. The electromotive forces of all power supplies are in phase.

5. The rated voltage of each step is assumed to be 5% higher than the rated voltage of the network.

6. The effect on short circuit currents of synchronous compensators, synchronous and asynchronous motors connected to this network should be taken into account. The influence of asynchronous electric motors on short-circuit currents is not taken into account when the electric motor power is up to 100 kW per unit, if the electric motors are separated from the short circuit place by one transformation stage, and also at any power, if they are separated from the short circuit place by two or more transformation stages, or if the current from them can to enter the short circuit site only through those elements through which the main short circuit current passes from the network and which have significant resistance (lines, transformers, etc.).

1.4.10. In electrical installations above 1 kV, the inductive resistances of electrical machines, power transformers and autotransformers, reactors, overhead and cable lines, as well as current conductors should be taken as design resistances. Active resistance should be taken into account only for overhead lines with wires of small cross sections and steel wires, as well as for long cable networks of small cross sections with high active resistance.

1.4.11. In electrical installations up to 1 kV, the inductive and active resistances of all circuit elements, including the active resistances of the circuit transition contacts, should be taken as design resistances. It is permissible to neglect the resistances of one type (active or inductive), if in this case the total resistance of the circuit decreases by no more than 10%.

1.4.12. In the case of supplying electrical networks up to 1 kV from step-down transformers, when calculating short-circuit currents, one should proceed from the condition that the voltage supplied to the transformer is unchanged and equal to its rated voltage.

1.4.13. Elements of a circuit protected by a fuse with a current-limiting action should be checked for electrodynamic resistance according to the highest instantaneous value of the short-circuit current passed by the fuse.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Microchip controls muscles 10.06.2012

An organic electronics research team at Linköping University has created a microchip that can control the delivery of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, allowing for chemical control of muscles.

The new device is based on previously developed transistors that can transport positive and negative ions, as well as biomolecules. Scientists managed to combine both ion channels and conventional microcircuits based on traditional silicon electronics into one transistor.

Thanks to the new technology, scientists can, for example, send chemical signals to muscle synapses where the natural nervous system does not work for some reason. The advantage of chemical control schemes, in particular, with the help of acetylcholine, is the ability to "bypass" the defects of the nerve centers and directly control muscle cells. This does not require attaching a microchip to the nerve endings, which is always associated with great difficulties and rejection problems.

Currently, transistors developed by Swedish scientists are able to control the supply of the signaling substance acetylcholine to individual cells and control muscle contraction. In the future, it is planned to develop chemical chips that can perform complex logical functions. In the future, this may lead to the creation of completely new technologies for the treatment of injuries and chronic diseases by regulating various physiological processes in the body.
