The power supply unit is intended for power supply from a 220 V network with a voltage of 4 V of a low-power load (current not exceeding 100 mA) and recharging three batteries of the NKGTS-0,45 or NKGTS-0,5 type with automatic shutdown of the charge mode.

Fig.1 (click to enlarge)

When the unit is connected to the network, the green LED lights up if there is voltage. The battery charging process is controlled by the glow of the red LED (switch SA1 must be on). While the charging process is in progress, it will be constantly on, and at the end of the charge, the LED starts blinking and the interval of its glow will be less than a pause,

The circuit automatically monitors the charging process and eliminates damage to the batteries. If the unit is used only to power the device, then the charger can be turned off by switch SA1.

Compared to similar schemes published in the literature, this one contains fewer radioelements and is easier to manufacture.

The required output voltage of the power supply is set by resistor R2. The device is configured to set the charge current to 45 mA with resistor R4 from a range of 15, 18, 20 ohms.

For tuning, instead of batteries, a 2 Ohm resistor with a power of at least 3 W is connected to the contacts X2 / 2 and X68 / 1 in series with a milliammeter. In this case, the HL2 LED should be constantly on. After performing this operation, the operation of the comparator DA2 is checked. Why should a 2 Ohm resistor (3 W) be connected to the contacts X2 / 2 and X150 / 0,5 in parallel with the oscilloscope. The minimum voltage on the diagram is set by the ratio of resistors R8 and R9.

Structurally, the power supply unit is made on a single-sided printed circuit board, placed in a housing from a standard source of the BP2-3 type, designed to power microcalculators. A network transformer of the T8-220-50 type was also taken from the same source. When using a transformer of another type, its secondary winding must be designed for a voltage of 12 ... 15 V at a load current of 200 mA. LEDs HL1 and HL2 are attached to the top cover of the housing with glue. Plug X1 is made on the base of the body, and X2 is connected to the body with a wire about 1 m long.

Inside the case, a heat-dissipating plate is attached to the transistor VT1. The resistors used can be of any type, capacitors C1 ... C- - type K50-16 or similar small-sized, microswitch SA1 - type PD-9-2. Transistor VT1 can be replaced with KT814B.

When using the above parts, the dimensions of the entire device do not exceed 60x60x50 mm (Figure 5.19).

To charge batteries of another type or a larger number of them, it is necessary to set the appropriate rated charge current (R4), upper (R2) and lower threshold (R8) of the comparator operation.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Wireless microcontroller TI CC1310F128RGZT 04.12.2015

The new CC1310F128RGZT IC from Texas Instruments is a multi-core system-on-a-chip consisting of:

- high-performance microcontroller Cortex-M3 48 MHz;
- 433/868 MHz radio with its own Cortex-M0 core;
- nano-consuming sensor controller with a separate 16-bit core;
- power supply subsystems with built-in DC/DC converter.

The CC1310 Universal Radio supports virtually any proprietary protocol and is compatible with CC1101, CC430, CC100L, CC1120, CC1200 and more transceivers.

A unique feature of the CC1310 is its low current consumption. In continuous receive mode, the current consumption is 5,5 mA, which is several times better than many competing solutions. CC1310 allows you to create wireless sensors that can work up to 10 years from a disk element CR2032.

Features of CC1310:

Cortex-M3 Up to 48-MHz Clock Speed;
128KB Flash, 20KB of Ultralow Leakage SRAM;
Sub1GHz Software Defined Radio;
Range up to 20 km (-124 dBm @ 0,625 kbps ; +14 dBm);
Best in class power consumption (5,5 mA RX);
Consumption of 600 nA at RTC with preservation of all RAM-memory;
Compatible with CC1101, CC110L, CC430, CC112x, CC12xx;
Network protocols: 6LoWPAN, 802.15.4g;
EEMBC ULPBench Score: 158.

The new CC1310 system-on-a-chip is a representative of the new CC13xx/CC26xx platform that supports 5 different technologies based on a single internal chip architecture.

The unique platform includes several pin-compatible chips that support Bluetooth Smart, Sub1GHz, ZigBee, 6LoWPAN, IEEE 802.15.4, RF4CE and proprietary data transfer protocols at speeds up to 4 megabits per second.

The 2,4GHz and Sub1GHz chips are interchangeable in terms of pin matching. Additionally, the same processor and a completely matching set of peripherals are located inside, which allows the developer to easily change the frequency range or the wireless communication standard used without significant time spent on product redesign.
