On a long hike (walking or cycling) you can not do without lighting. Flashlights that are recharged from the mains are not enough for a long time, and tourist routes pass mainly in places where there are no power lines. The charger "Tourist" will help to solve this problem. To do this, you need to pull out small-sized batteries of the D-0.25 type from two flashlights and insert them into the charger.

The “Tourist” charger (Fig. 1) consists of a bicycle generator 5, which is mounted on a pole 4 and the charger itself 6. The generator is operated by four caps attached to jumpers 1, which are connected to nozzle 2 and rotate under the influence of the wind [1] The cap can be made from a metal circle with a diameter of 94 mm, cut out of galvanized iron with a thickness of 0,5 mm.We remove part of the circle, and bend the rest with a cone and solder the ends of the workpiece along the generatrix. To each cap we solder or weld jumpers 100-110 mm long, curved As jumpers, you can take a copper or metal wire with a diameter of 4,4-6,0 mm, the ends of which are inserted into four drilled holes of the nozzle at an angle of 90 ° relative to each other, and the attachment points can be soldered or welded by electric welding.

The inner diameter of the nozzle should be 2-3 mm larger than the outer diameter of roller 7 of the bike generator. Having cut and turned a gasket 8 from a polyethylene water pipe of the appropriate diameter with a length equal to the internal size of the cap, insert it inside the nozzle and put it on the bike generator roller. When using the bike generator on the charger all the time, the jumpers can be welded directly to the bike generator roller. It is better to grind the nozzle on a lathe or, in extreme cases, make it from a metal water pipe of the appropriate diameter by welding a washer on top.

The bike generator is attached to the top of the pole with its own clamp. The charger is also attached here and connected to the bike generator. The length of the composite pole is 3 m (2x1,5 m), it is fastened in an open area with four stretch marks, and in the presence of trees - on the top of the tree.

The alternating current of the cycle generator (Fig. 2) is supplied to the rectifier bridge VD1 ... VD4 and then to charge four D-0.25 elements [2]. To smooth out ripples, an electrolytic capacitor C1 with a capacity of 100 microfarads x 16V is installed. Rectifier diodes - any type for a permissible current of at least 100 mA, for example KD509, KD510, KD522.

Charger Tourist

The duration of charging the batteries depends on the voltage of the bicycle generator, which in turn is determined by the strength of the wind. In light wind it is recommended to charge only two batteries D-0.25. After charging, they are inserted into flashlights, which are used at night for their intended purpose.

Cyclists can fit the charger (by removing the capped attachment from the alternator roller) on their bikes during daylight hours. Since the current of the bicycle generator installed on the bicycle is 0,3 A, it is necessary to install a 300 Ohm resistor in series with the batteries in the charger circuit, which will make it possible to limit the charging current to 20 mA.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Remote fingerprint scanning 29.03.2015

Japanese scientists have developed a device that allows you to remotely remove fingerprints left by an attacker from a surface. This procedure will require an apparatus called a forensic hyperspectral projector, capable of non-contact scanning of prints from any surface.

Researchers from the Japanese Police Research Department, together with engineers from Waseda University, have created a projector that uses a green laser to recognize a fingerprint. The system, due to the beam reflected from the object under study, analyzes the image for the presence of protein and fat particles that remain after contact with the object.

The announced technology allows you to recognize a fingerprint even if the touches on the object were repeated, as a result of which the skin patterns overlapped each other. In this case, the accuracy of the determination is approximately 70%. Previously, such a method of analysis was completely inaccessible to criminologists.

Japanese engineers are confident in the prospects of the presented solution and hope that the system under consideration, which is based on the principle of probing our planet, will become an indispensable assistant in conducting investigative and search activities. This will speed up the process of catching criminals and facilitate examinations at the crime scene. It is also assumed that the technology of remote scanning of prints using a green laser will read the information necessary for a DNA test.
