The stabilizer combines qualities that are practically unrealizable in an integrated design - high allowable input voltage, low self-consumption, low voltage drop across the control transistor and good time and temperature stability. The stabilizer circuit is shown in fig. 1.

Micro power precision stabilizer

The use of a depleted-channel MOS transistor as a control element made it possible to very simply solve the problem of controlling the control element, while ensuring a low drop across it and good stability of the stabilizer. The 7P4 transistor is produced by Proton CJSC for its own needs, according to its characteristics it is equivalent to the Infineon BSS129 transistor.

The rated output voltage of the stabilizer is 8 V, its own consumption is not more than 750 μA. The maximum output current is limited by the maximum allowable power dissipation of the VT1 transistor and is 25 mA at an input voltage of 40 V and an ambient temperature of 50 °C. Temperature stability is mainly determined by the temperature drift of the Zener diode VD2 and the temperature coefficient of resistance of the resistors R2 and R3, which must be precision, for example C2-29V. Since the thermal stability of the output voltage is also affected by the temperature drift of the zero of the operational amplifier, it can be improved by using a micropower precision operational amplifier.

The stabilizer is not critical to the capacitance value and characteristics of the output capacitor. Diode VD1 serves to protect against reversal of the input voltage polarity and interference induced on the power line. The high maximum allowable voltages of the diode VD1 and the transistor VT1 allow short-term interference of any polarity with an amplitude of up to 200 V.

To obtain lower output voltages, instead of VD2, an integrated zener diode, for example LM285, should be used by changing the resistances of resistors R2 and R3.

If it is necessary to miniaturize the device, you can use elements for surface mounting - a KF1446UD14A microcircuit, precision resistors R1-11, resistors R1-12, a KD134A9 diode as VD1.
