The described power supply is assembled from available elements. It requires almost no adjustment, operates in a wide range of input AC voltage, is equipped with overcurrent protection.

The proposed power supply allows you to get a stabilized output voltage from 1 V to almost the value of the rectified voltage from the secondary winding of the transformer. A comparison unit is assembled on transistor VT1: a part of the reference voltage is supplied to the base from the variable resistor R3 engine (set by the reference voltage source VD5VD6HL1R1), and the output voltage from the R14R15 divider is supplied to the emitter. The mismatch signal is fed to the current amplifier, made on the transistor VT2, which controls the regulating transistor VT4.

Stabilized power supply, 220/1-40 volts

When the output of the power supply is shorted or the load current is excessive, the voltage drop across the resistor R8 increases. The VT3 transistor opens and shunts the base circuit of the VT2 transistor, thereby limiting the load current. LED HL2 signals the activation of overcurrent protection. In the event of a short circuit, the switching on of the current limiting mode does not occur instantly. The inductor L1 prevents the rapid increase in current through the transistor VT4, and the diode VD7 reduces the voltage surge in case of accidental disconnection of the load from the power supply.

To regulate the current of protection operation in the open circuit between resistors R7 and R9, it is necessary to turn on a variable resistor with a resistance of 250 Ohms, and connect its engine to the base of the VT3 transistor. The current value can be adjusted from 400 mA to 1,9 A.

In the power supply, any transformer with a voltage on the secondary winding from 9 to 40 V is applicable. However, at a low voltage value, the resistance of the resistors R1, R2, R9, R13-R15 should be approximately halved and the zener diodes VD5, VD6 should be selected so that the voltage on resistor R1 was approximately equal to half the voltage across capacitor C2.

Choke L1 contains 120 turns of PEL 0,6 wire wound on a mandrel with a diameter of 8 mm. We will replace the KT209M (VT1) transistor with KT502 with any letter index, KT208 (F-M), KT209 (F-M), KT3107 (A, B). Instead of the KT815G (VT2) transistor, you can use any KT817 series or other similar structure with an allowable collector-emitter voltage of at least the supply voltage. Transistor VT4 - KT803A, KT808A, KT809A, series KT812, KT819, KT828, KT829 or any powerful one with an allowable collector current of at least 5 A and an allowable collector-emitter voltage greater than the supply voltage. Transistors VT2 and VT4 must be placed on heat sinks. Diodes VD1 - VD4 - any rectifier with a permissible forward current of more than 5 A and a reverse voltage of at least the voltage on the secondary winding of the transformer. LEDs can be of any type.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Quantum innovations from IBM 15.12.2023

IBM has unveiled its latest advances in quantum computing, unveiling the new 133-qubit Heron quantum processor and the innovative modular quantum computer based on it, the IBM Quantum System Two. In addition, the Condor processor with 1121 qubits was announced, which has 50% greater qubit density. These developments open up new prospects for scaling quantum computing.

New quantum developments from IBM, such as the Heron and Condor processors, as well as the Quantum System Two, open new horizons for the development of quantum computing. The combination of high performance, modularity and scalability makes them key elements of the future in this area.

The Condor processor is part of IBM's long-term research into creating large-scale quantum computing systems. Despite the impressive number of qubits, its performance is comparable to the Osprey device, which has 433 qubits and will be announced in 2022. This highlights the importance of changing the architecture as the number of qubits increases. Experience gained from the development of Condor and the previous Eagle processor has led to significant changes in the architecture of the new rebuilt Heron processor.

"The Heron quantum processor is our best yet, delivering five times the error reduction of our previous flagship Eagle device," said Matthias Stephan, chief quantum architect at IBM. “This four-year journey ended successfully thanks to a unique approach focused on modularity and scalability.”

The IBM Quantum System Two, installed in Yorktown Heights, New York, is a three-processor system based on Heron processors. It combines cryogenic infrastructure with modular qubit control electronics, providing flexibility and upgradeability as new generations of quantum processors emerge.

To make quantum computing easier to work with, IBM also introduced version 2024 of the open-source software tool Qiskit in February 1.0. This tool allows you to create and run quantum programs on the IBM Quantum Platform or simulator. In addition, Qiskit Patterns was announced, providing quantum developers with a tool for optimizing quantum circuits using the Qiskit Runtime and processing the results.
