The fuse circuit that can instantly turn off the load when the current consumed by it increases above the set limit is shown in fig. 7.30.

The power part of the device consists of a diode bridge VD1...VD4, the diagonal of which includes a thyristor VS1. If the photodinistor in optocoupler U1 is illuminated by an LED, then at the beginning of each half-cycle, a voltage appears on the control electrode of the thyristor sufficient to turn it on, and the "diode bridge - thyristor" chain will be conductive. If the photodinistor in the optocoupler remains unlit, the thyristor VS1 will be closed and a break will form in the circuit connecting the electrical network with the load.

Electronic mains fuse

The fuse is turned on with the SB1 button. At the moment of its closing, the thyristor VS2 closes, but the fuse remains off (the power supply circuit of the optocoupler LED remains shunted), and only when SB1 opens, the mains voltage will be supplied to the load. This avoids damage to the fuse when trying to turn it on during a short circuit in the load circuit. To turn off the load manually, you just need to press the SB2 button. Thyristor VS1 and diodes VD1 ... VD4 are mounted on aluminum plates - heat sinks 50x80x5 mm.

Resistor R10 - a piece of wire PEV-1-0,6 mm about two meters long (or shorter if you take a wire of high resistivity - manganin, constantan, etc.). Capacitor C1 - K73-17; C2 and C3 - K50-6. Diodes VD1.VD4 can be replaced with D232, D233, D247, KD203, KD206 and others with a reverse voltage of at least 400 V and an operating current of at least 10 A.

The D814D zener diode can be replaced with D814G, D813, D811, KS213 and others with a stabilization voltage of 10 ... 12 V. The KU101 (VS2) thyristor can have any letter index, and the KU202 (VS1) thyristor - indices K or N. Transistor VT1 - any low-power silicon pn-p structure - from KT361, KT209, KT201, KT502, KT3107, etc. The fuse threshold (10 A) is changed by selecting the resistor R10.

When operating an electronic fuse, it must be borne in mind that when some devices are connected to the network, an initial current surge occurs (the starting current of the electric motor, the current of a cold incandescent lamp, etc.), which can cause it to operate. In such cases, either increase the current threshold of the fuse, or in one way or another increase its inertia (for example, by increasing the capacitance of capacitor C3). Both have their downsides. It is better to take measures to reduce the current surges themselves, which are harmful primarily to the load itself and lead to its accelerated wear.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

New MEMS production facilities 17.05.2008

The need for mass production of products that use microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) technology is increasing as the market for MEMS sensors grows.

With over 25 years of experience in these products, Freescale Semiconductor is a major supplier of MEMS sensors, including acceleration and pressure sensors. In order to expand its capabilities for the production of these products, the company has put into operation a new production facility designed for 200 mm wafers. The production line is located at the Freescale factory in Texas.

Previously, MEMS manufacturing was concentrated on a 150mm wafer processing line located in Japan. Recall that MEMS technology has literally revolutionized the production of sensors. It is based on the use of a unique combination of electrical and mechanical properties of semiconductor materials.

Having started their triumphant march with security systems, motor control and blood pressure measurement, MEMS sensors are now found in cell phones, game consoles, medical devices, household appliances and many other products. Analysts estimate that the MEMS sensor market, which reached $2006 billion in 6, continues to grow rapidly and will reach $2010 billion by 9,7.
