The proposed method is not new, but rather a well-forgotten old one, and consists in the fact that to start the engine, its shaft is untwisted in the working direction. The low power motor is easy to start by turning the shaft by hand. A cord is wound around the shaft of a high-power motor, pulling on which gives it rotation.

Despite the simplicity, this method has its advantages: no additional devices are required (except for a cord for a powerful engine), the direction of rotation can be any. But in this case, it should be borne in mind that if the engine operates without phase shifters at all, its useful shaft power is reduced. In addition, when overloaded, the engine stops and it needs to be restarted, which limits the scope of the proposed method.

However, at home, a small fan at the workplace, a sharpening machine for straightening household cutting tools (grindstone) work successfully with such a launch. If you need to check a powerful electric motor, but there is no three-phase network, then this option will suit you. Minute business. In this case, the motor with short-circuited coils will not start in this way. To reduce the starting current of powerful machines, you must first pull the rope and, without yawning, apply power.

So you can start both low-speed and high-speed engines, and load only after starting.

Quite often, when a starting capacitor with a capacity selected at the rate of 1 μF per 10 W of power is turned on, a low-speed motor overheats even at idle. In this case, the capacitance of the capacitor has to be reduced so much that its efficiency becomes barely perceptible. In such a situation, the proposed method also justifies itself.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Flexible material for pulse sensors 18.03.2017

A new material created by Swiss researchers turns heart rate (HR) sensors into something like embroidery used to decorate clothing. Flexible sensors are discreet when worn and do not cause discomfort, and garments with them can be washed as usual.

In fact, the sensor fibers consist of two polymeric materials with different properties. One serves as a light guide, and the other as a flexible protective coating. The fiber is formed from the melt. This technology is characterized by high productivity in mass production.

For measurement, light is supplied through one fiber, and the reflected light is read through the other. By analyzing the reflection, it is possible to determine the heart rate with the same accuracy as using a classic medical sensor in the form of a clip on the finger.

So far, measurements are limited to heart rate, but the project program provides for the creation of sensors to determine the level of oxygen saturation and pressure in tissues.
