The battery tester described below is really simple and convenient. But it should be remembered that you need to use it, knowing exactly the type of the element under test. According to the book "Batteries and Accumulators", the nominal voltages of various types of batteries are as follows: mercury-zinc - 1,25 V; air-zinc - 1,4 V; alkaline - 1,5 V; salt (carbon-zinc) 1,6 V; silver - 1,8 V. In practice, mainly salt and alkaline elements are used. But they also have some variation in rated voltages, which must be taken into account.

Now on the market a wide variety of batteries, from cheap to expensive. But among all this mass there are many fakes and expired items. The proposed device is designed to identify unusable elements (Fig. 1).

P1, VT1, R1, R2 - elements of the measuring circuit. Resistance R3 and button SB1 are designed to test the battery under load. Turning on the indicator through a transistor is done in order to stretch the scale readings. When the indicator is turned on through a quenching resistor, it is almost impossible to distinguish a voltage of 1,5 from 1,6 V.

Design. The view of the device is shown in Fig.2.

The body is made from an old ignition coil from an IZH motorcycle. The lower carbolite part of the coil is taken. In place of the upper shoulder, a recess was made for cover 2, then a window was cut out. A contact washer 5 is glued into the upper part of the housing, machined along the inner diameter of the housing 3. A contact spring 6 with a wire soldered to it is glued into the lower part of the housing. The spring is taken from the battery compartment of a cassette recorder. Lotion cap is taken as the top cover 2. All circuit elements are mounted in the top cover. Indicator P1 is also taken from a cassette recorder. Before installation, the disassembled indicator was connected together with the circuit to an adjustable voltage source and calibrated. The scale view is shown in Fig.3.

For convenience, the scale sector up to 1,3 V was colored red, from 1,3 to 1,5 V - yellow, after 1,5 V - green.

The tester is designed to install R20 batteries, as well as R6 finger batteries, but with an adapter. The adapter is machined from textolite, a hole for the battery is drilled in the center. A contact plate with a protrusion inside is glued to the lower part of the adapter (Fig. 4).

Using the tester is simple: you need to insert a battery inside, placed in an adapter or without it, and read the indicator readings. To determine the voltage under load, press button 4.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Intel TV Service 14.02.2013

The world's largest microchip maker, Intel, is working on a networked TV broadcasting service that the company plans to launch later this year, according to the Financial Times. Intel intends to enter a new market for itself, but in this endeavor the company is following Apple's successful strategy of offering customers complete sets of devices, software and services.

"For the first time, we will offer consumers a new device under a new brand," said Eric Haggers, head of Intel's media division. "We are working with industry representatives to find out how we can offer users TV broadcasts over the Internet."

The new device, according to Haggers, will have a camera that can detect the presence of people in the room and will help with personalization of software settings and advertising.

As a result of the launch of the service, Intel will become a direct competitor to US cable and satellite TV providers, but the company will not provide users with the ability to independently select channels, which is one of the main advantages of network television. Channel packages will be available to consumers, just like other broadcast network operators.
