Those who have been involved in the development, adjustment and repair of RES know for sure how convenient it is to use a laboratory autotransformer (LATR).

I use a nine amp LATR [1]. For ease of use, I supplemented the LATR with an alternating current ammeter. Its circuit diagram is shown in Fig. 1, and the printed circuit board is shown in Fig. 2.

Network ammeter to LATR

The design of the ammeter is good in that it has one scale for three ranges, it is linear and no inscriptions or graduations are required on the main scale of the microammeter. As a current sensor, one low-resistance powerful manganin resistor (0,024 Ohm) is used, which ensures ease of switching and no power loss (in the form of a voltage drop across resistor R1).

On circuit elements VD9, R9, C4, C5, VD10 and relay K1, a time delay device for connecting the microammeter head to the diode bridge VD5 - VD8 is assembled. This ensures that the microammeter needle does not go off scale during the charging of the capacitor C1 (the moment the LATR is connected to the network). The elements of the delay circuit are assembled on a separate fiberglass plate and connected by mounting conductors.

The types of radio components used are not critical, using a microammeter, for example, 50 μA, the resistance of resistors R2 - R4 will have to be increased.

During adjustment, in parallel with these resistors, trimming resistors with a rating of 470 ohms should be connected; 4,7 kOhm; 47 kOhm respectively.

The inclusion of the scheme of Fig.1 in the general scheme is shown in Fig.3.

The circuit has been working for many years and is very convenient in that it has three ranges: this allows you to control the no-load current from low-power to very powerful transformers.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Aqua Computer Kryographics Next full coverage water blocks 04.12.2018

Aqua Computer has unveiled the new Kryographics Next full-coverage water block series, which currently has models for the GeForce RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti graphics cards in the reference version. It is noted that the novelties are the best Aqua Computer water blocks at the moment.

The base of the novelties is made of copper. Nickel-plated and pure copper versions will be available. According to the manufacturer, the base is milled from a single piece of copper and weighs 1,25 kg. As befits a full-coverage water block, Kryographics Next contacts not only the GPU, but also the power elements of the power circuits and memory chips.

The top of the Kryographics Next water blocks is made of clear acrylic and decorated with a decorative metal plate. Of course, not without customizable RGB lighting. The water block has 15 pixel (addressable) LEDs. You can control the backlight either using the Aqua Computers QUADRO controller or using the ASUS Aura Sync utility, of course, only when connected to an ASUS motherboard.

The manufacturer also offers reinforcing plates for the back of the video card for new water blocks. One of the plates will be standard, while the other is equipped with an additional copper heat pipe, passing in the area of contact with the elements of the power subsystem, and ending in a terminal for connecting fittings. The presence of a heat pipe should provide better cooling.

The basic version of Aqua Computer Kryographics Next water blocks for GeForce RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti video cards is priced at 150 euros by the manufacturer. For the version with a nickel-plated base, you will have to pay 15 euros more. The standard reinforcing plate costs 33 euros, and with a heat pipe it costs 48 euros.
